Amazing bird watching on the river. Sun Bitttern in display, Green Kingfishers NOT hiding.... a beautiful valley.
Although the whitewater is not more than a II+ to III, the beauty of this little river is well worth it
Excellent trip - make sure you go with a guide though as it's quite an advanced river. Great fun - good waterfalls, beautiful 'Jurassic Park - esque' views - without the dinosaurs! :)
Our family went rafting with Costa Rican Resource (crrtours.com). We have 3 boys ages 8 1/2, 8 1/2, and 11. We had a great time! Our "pilot" Marlon was clearly experienced and made sure everything was done safely. Luis stayed close by in a kayak to check things out, assist if anyone fell in, take pictures, and generally keep us all extra safe. We stopped along the river where we were met by additional CRR staff who prepared a delicious lunch. Given that there had been a lot of rain recently, the Pejibaye was a much better choice than the Pacuare with younger kids. Don't get me wrong, it was still thrilling! Kudos to CRR for good judgement on that call and for an overall great day!
It is a river there is not much around it. It is very clean and refreshing. There is shade and sunny parts aswell. Great for rafting, kayaking or simply relaxing. There is lots of flora and fauna all around.
This is an ideal trip for those who have never rafted before. The river is usually tranquil, but it is ideal for those that don't feel up to the Pacuare.
Second time we booked with this company and our family loved it as much as we did a few years ago. The river is challenging enough for first timers, October the river is very full. Don't hesitate to do this trip, most ages are comfortable , and the company is very safety conscious.
A group of us with Green Frog Aventures used this as our warm up river. It was normal water level and the run started with several class III rapids, then calmed down. It was a nice stretch of water to see bird life and the Costa Rica scenery.
We went through at a somewhat low water level. The rapids were II or II+, so it makes for a fun trip in inflatable kayaks, not difficult for beginners and certainly good for kids in rafts. It is not that long, so we had time to run the stretch twice. The scenery is lovely.
Rafted down the river and thorougly enjoyed it. Enough rapids to be interesting, but not crazy. Water level was not really high, so rapids may have been down a class. Would absolutely go back if in the area.
A fun easy river that we went down on inflatable kayaks for beginners on a Week of Adventures with Costa Rica Rios. Well used by locals on Sundays adds charm and culture to this unspoilt river.
The pejibaye river is excellent for kayaking. We go often to enjoy the scenery the river is beautiful the surrounding towns picturesque.River is fresh cold water, excellent after biking!!!!Recommend a visit to this area for sure!
This river is easily accessible from Turrialba. There's a nice half-day stretch of class II that's great if you want to go rafting and have small children. My youngest boy is 7, and this was his first trip. There rivers are all low this time of year, but it was still a blast.
I am not a fast rapids, fall out of the boat, thrill-seeking kind of rafter. If you're looking for a little bounce, a few waves, and lots of gorgeous scenery - then this river will do the trick. It's a beautiful river surrounded by incredible trees and birds. Our tour guide, Luis, even took us out of the boat to quietly watch local men hard at work grinding cane into sugar. He named trees, birds, and shared his love of the water and his native Turrialba with us. I came out of the river filled with not only new knowledge about the river, but also as if a fun friend had introduced me to the area. This was one of the best rafting trips I've been on.
Es un Río caudaloso, limpio, de aguas frías, excelente para ciertos deportes de aventura, como Kayac.Perfecto para fotógrafos, amantes de la naturaleza y de las caminatas.
