We only had one day in Costa Rica from our Thomson cruise and what a day to spend it. I knew I would like Costa Rica and I was disappointed, Veragua rainforest is a must. From my experience of Veragua, seeing sloths and the red eyed tree frog I want more and we're going to plan a holiday for next year to Costa Rica.

This a great park to see the real Costa Rica a truly wonderful place. We had an excellent guide. He was knowledgeable in all aspects of exhibits. He walked and talked us with such enthusiasm. All of the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The exhibits were excellent, especially the butterfly and frog exhibits. I have traveled to Costa Rica several times before but never on this side of the country. Veragua Rainforest Park is one of the top parks in the country. Would recommend it.

We had an absolutely amazing time zip lining through the Veragua rainforest, it was truly a once in a life time! Our guides were extremely helpful and knowledgable. Not to mention reassuring since we are a group of first timers. This is an activity for all ages! My husband and I are in our early thirties, but our seven year old son and seventy year old mother in law also joined us in the zip lining fun. Would most definitely recommend...the views above the canopy are amazing.

What a wonderful place to spend the day. We absolutely loved the rain forest with all the bugs, snakes and frogs. There is other wildlife but tough to see. The impressive part of this trip is the research facility which is categorizing and documenting new and is one case a species of frog that was thought to be extinct. The guides were so great and informative. The tram ride was fun to the water falls but be aware that it's a steep walk although there are stairs.

We took our 84 year old mom on a Panama Cruise and took this tour. It had rained a lot the day before so our bus ride up to the rain forest was slow and bumpy. There are narrow winding dirt roads to navigate. The bus driver I must say was a.My husband has a bad back and since we were at the back of the bus we got whipped around a lot. His back hurt so he sat at the front with my mom on the way back. So if you have a bad back sit at the front of the bus. The tour was supposed to be 5 1/2 hours long but because of the road conditions it turned out to be 7 hours long. Too long for this traveller. When we got to the rainforest there are 2 trails they offered. One was easy that we took for my mom's sake and one was to the waterfalls which was a more strenuous walk.I must say our guide was very knowledgeable. We walked through the rainforest, and butterfly avery and saw nocturnal frogs which I had never seen before .They have worked hard at making pathways etc. but for someone like my mom when the guide stopped to talk there should be benches to sit on. Mind you we were told not to hold the handrails on the paths as there were giant biting ants. We did see butterflies and frogs during our walk. After our small walking tour we had a simple lunch . The pineapples were the best I have ever had! After lunch we had to listen to two researchers talk about their achievements and then ask for donations. Not my cup of tea. Next we took the cable care down to into the rainforest. The guide and walk was interesting but nothing too exciting. We did not get to see any monkeys which was a bit disappointing. It is lovely to be in the rainforest I enjoyed that experience but we all agreed we would not have gone knowing it was 7 hours a bit too long for us.

What a truly wonderful place. We had an excellent guide who walked and talked us through this amazing rainforest with such enthusiasm and knowledge. We saw sloths, snakes, spiders, frogs and butterflies of every size and colour. A ride in the aerial tramway through the tree canopy was fantastic ! Excellent lunch in restaurant too.

Butterfies of all colors, frogs of all species, a rainforest where it is agreable to be guided by very competent persons. And surprise, the monkeys,up in the air, taking care of rheir family. Do not hesitate to undertake this excursion. The cafeteria offers a simple but very taste meal.

I went with my university class here and we had perfect weather, a fantastic and knowledgeable guide, and overall a really great time! I would recommend this to anyone who likes a bit of a hike and loves first-hand nature!

My two sisters, my brother-in-law and I visited the Veragua Rain Forest in Costa Rica on a Holland America cruise. Our tour guide, Wendy, was fabulous! She knew the answer to every question our group had, and was very humerous in the telling. Sgecwas also very clear in instructing us on safety tips. After we saw the displays on the poisonous snakes, frogs and ants, we listened to her most carefully. The park even had a nocturnal dispkay where we saw creatures we'd never have seen in the daylight. Impressive, to say the least. And the pineapple they served was better than Hawaii's!

We arrived on a tour bus which took us from our ship docked in Puerto Limon and were greeted by an actual biologist who served as our guide to the park. His English skills were excellent and he really understood what he was talking about. He was proud of the work being done at Veragua and it showed! If you asked any question at all he practically lit up with enjoyment as he responded. We got a chance to meet other biologists who were also excited about their work. He would show us things we would have never noticed. In the "night room" there were attendants who would use small flashlights to quickly point out the occupants of the display cases. We were told on the way to the park that many meals in Costa Rica consist of "rice and beans or beans and rice." so our meal at lunch time did not disappoint. The beans, rice, chicken, fresh fruit were delicious! The butterfly room was amazing! The tram ride was great. My wife is afraid of heights but you were so close to the vegetation that she was not worried at all.

It is great to see that there are still people and countries care about the nature. this park is a great sample to see on how this could be done and still to make money with it. The people in Costa Rica are happy despite they do not own much. The biggest treasure the carry in their heart is the connection to the nature and the unbroken will to save nature for common generations! you really need to see this beautiful place. Just two words to say:Pure life!!

We visted this park while docked in Puerto Limon from our cruise ship. It was an amazing day with an aerial tram ride through the rain forest, a walk throughout the par, lunch and then a pontoon boat ride throught the canals. We saw so many birds and animals, our guide was terrific, lots of knowledge, very good English. Lunch was typical Central America fare, lots of beans and rice with a bit of spicy chicken, was delicious. Would highly recommend this tour, be sure to include the boat ride.

We visited Costa Rica last year for 10 days, but didn't have the opportunity to zip line so that was our goal, and this didn't disappoint! The length of the runs were shorter than other zip lining we have done, but the vegetation and staff made it an excellent and fun day. We also had lunch on the premises of Veragua Park, which was better than any food we had eaten in Costa Rica before. We also enjoyed the tram, although it was fairly short, but the walk to the waterfalls was worth it. The Park itself was truly spectacular in the fact that it had so many different components (butterflies, frogs, etc.) and was very clean!! A spectacular day which will be fondly remembered.

We visited in February 2015, and had a wonderful experience. It is a beautiful site, totally undisturbed and natural. The guides were so knowledgeable and passionate about the work and studies being conducted onsite. The whole park is very well maintained and clean. We had an enjoyable lunch after the tour in the park's cafe (buffet style). There is also a very nice gift shop next to the cafe. I would love to return for another visit.
