We went to Arenal Beach and hired Luis to take us Isla Iguana...I recommend him he is a good, honest person. He supplied fins and goggles, too. The beach is best at high tide as you can snorkel the reefs better as they are close to shore. There were soooo many hermit crabs on the beach and iguanas of course too. The beach was beautiful soft white sand and you need to bring your own food. There is plenty of shade so plan to spend as long as you want there. There was a nice trail around the island too. On the way back to the mainland we saw thousands of fish jumping so we looked at Luis and said go get 'em and he shortly caught his supper... What a treat.

If you have the opportunity to go to Isla Iguana, you will not be disappointed! The beach and white sands are beautiful! The shells are abundant! If you stop long enough...the beach almost looks like it's moving with all of the crabs living there. It hosts the largest migration of Frigit birds, beautiful to watch while you're spending a lazy day in the sun. Pack your lunch and drinks and toilet paper because there is literally nothing that you can buy there. There are Ranger type guys that are on the island and they do charge a daily fee. They will come around to collect and you have to show your passport or residency card. But remember to take your garbage back home with you. Follow the path around the island for another scenic adventure! Iguana's all over..nature at it's best!

Pretty beach, lots of Iguanas and white sand.! Unfortunately it could be cleaner. Some broken glass and cans litter the beach and the bathroon facilities are not the greatest but the water is warm and heavenly! The boat ride to get there was an adventure.

Soft beige sand surrounded by clear turquoise water, even though it's actually in the Pacific Ocean. Not crowded. Not much to do. There is a small visitors center, a changing area, and a trail that you can use to hike to the other side of the island (short hike). Just sit there and enjoy the beauty or do some snorkeling off shore.

Disliked- jellyfish but the rangers warned me. It was my own stupidity. It aS just a day with jellyfish. But only one time out of five visits. The snorkeling is great and it is worth a visit. Bring lots of water and some sandwiches.

At the hotel we stayed. The trip was fantastic, we were so pleased that we had decided to do it: beautiful island with thousands of birds and seacrabs.

We visited the island, leaving from Playa Arenal in Pedasi. The 1/2 hour boat ride to the island was very rough in a 20 ft open fishing boat. Not for those the least bit afraid of the ocean. The boat captain tried hard to minimize the 2-3 ft waves, and stayed on the island to take us back when we were ready. We were not told in advance by the person who booked us (but heard from some local exparts) that you need a copy of your passport & $10.00 entrance fee to the island, a national park. We arrived at low tide, so the water over the reef was only 1-2 ft, not good for snorkeling and the bottom close to shore and on the beach at low tide is rocky- pebbles & sea shells- so water shoes a good idea. The beach is nice white sand and was nice enough. We hiked both main trails to smaller beaches- not good for swimming. On these trails was the only place we saw iguana's - small ones. Being an isolated & protected island I expected a large population of larger iguanas- but not so. The ride back was better as the sea had come down.Over all I would say an ok trip. Don't book thru a hotel- book with the captain at the beach. We paid $40.00 per person, but I suspect you can do it for 1/2 that, because of commissions hotels charge. The restaurant at Arenal Beach can call a taxi to come back ($2.50) if you don't have a car. Bring beverages, water,, food, sun screen, towels, snorkle ect as there are no services, food or drinkable water on the island. Also bring toilet paper, as there is only 1 bathroom (non flush)

Isla iguana is a must do. The boats to take you from pedasi to isla iguana charge $70. For the day. The panga boats hold 6 people. We were a party of 4. The captain stays at isla iguana until you are ready to leave. Isla iguana is about 5 miles by water from pedasi. Be prepared for the best experience. Nothing is sold on the island of Isla iguana. Take food, beverages, snorkel gear and beach towels. It is a idyllic day if fantastic scenery and crystal clear water. The beach is powder white sand.

Is an amazing island, will take you about 30 minutes in boat from Playa El Arenal. Roundtrip price is around 70USD (I paid 70 for me and 6 people more). IMPORTANT, be sure that there is not low tide at the island otherwise won't worth to go.

if you are in pedasi don t miss that island. go to playa el arenal ( at the beginning of pedasi turn left coming from las tablas to el arenal) ask fishermen to take you there (we paid 80 for 4) . the ride can be shaky from late december to april. on the island you pay 10 admission fee. bring food and water. to beaches, one for snorkling and swimming after 12.30 the other just for swimming. lot of iguanas and little crabs. beautiful beach!

We loved this place - transparent beach, lots of animals. Friendly iguanas, male frigates with huge red necks, parrot fish and lovely boat that took us for $80. the only thing I disliked was that you have to take ID to the island... but it was worth it

The beauty of the Caribean with the tranquility of the Pacific! The Iguanas and Hermit Crabs are everywhere! Take bananas to feed the iguanas. Take snorkel equipment and food with as well. This is a great place to spend the day!

The stop was part of our Whale Watching excursion. It was a rainy day so we didn't bring snorkeling equipment or bathing suits. Sure wish we had though, the water was beautiful Caribbean blue and I could see beautiful fish looking down from the boat.

We took our kids here while in Pedasi, and they were in heaven. The water is crystal clear and the sand so very white! There were iguanas and crabs everywhere. You can take a hike to the other side of the island where there are some pretty intense waves hitting the black rocks. It made for amazing pictures and video. The main side of the island is very calm and safe for the little ones to swim. Make sure you pack a lunch and plenty of water since you cannot buy anything on the island. We were staying at Casa Lajagua in town (reviewed separately) and they provide lunch as well as chairs, umbrellas, and snorkeling gear.

A fabulous day of snorkelling and relaxing with the family. Saw puffer fish, sting ray and turtles. The water is gorgeous. Will be back!
