Good zoo. Lots of exhibits with nearly 2 kms to walk. First time i was seeing an African elephant. Lots of birds and lots of snakes as well. Previously i had seen Giraffes in other zoos in India. But the ones here looked really big. Overall a nice place to visit with kids.
Mysore zoo is the best zoo among which i have visited. Its full of greenaries and surrounded by karanji lake, many animals are nourished and cherished here, children will enjoy here, very beautiful weekend spot.
The Zoo is privately run and it shows! A lot of animals, birds, reptiles are present and seem to be in good health.
good, better than other places in india.able to see the hardwork of staff for upkeepment.Easily approachable..wide zoological variety.
It is really an amazing zoo with many animal and birds having home there. Really impressive collection. They run adoption program and I can see many people have adopted many birds and animal. I think we can contribute too.Start from left with Birds and then moving to monkeys and other cage animal. then take a long run to see lions, zebra, bear, elephant and many more. Take a pause at the ice cream parlor and start again.Things I like :Good collection of animals, cleanliness of the zoo, adoption strategy and their say no to plastic campaignThings to take care :If you small kids please take their food and waterIt is a long walk apprx. 5-7 Kms if you can not, you can use battery operated vehicle service with a heavy chargeDo not bring your own water bottle as they charge 10 rs. to get them in (So that you don't throw anywhere)
This zoo garden is the best zoo in India having animals and birds from all over the world.being a century old zoo this zoo was developed by the then maharaja of Mysore.spread across a huge area this zoo is having facilities such as electric vans to travel within the zoo which is also assisted by a trained guide.so people visiting this zoo are requested to use this facility because it is not possible to walk thru the length and breadth of this zoo.a must visit place for couples along with their kids if they are spending a vacation in Mysore.time required will be half day so start your day visiting this zoo.
A must see place. Enjoyable trip with battery driven cars.Birds welcome you at the very beginning.Started enjoying by hearing songs of little birds and ended with long Giraffe
I have been to plenty of zoological parks in India. Delhi, Nainital, Bannerghatta (Bangalore), Pune, are few to name. This one is different. Most of the animals are owned by different organizatins or famous personalities. Animals were given comparatively better space to move around. Their respective habitat was taken into account. There is mind behind designing each cage. Animals were looking happy. They have varieties of birds and monkeys in special. Its a 3 km stretch to see it fully. Keep yourself fresh to enjoy it. Electric car is not recommended as they will not let you see anhthing and just rush through whole park in 30 mins.
They have tried to make it a nice place for children to learn about animals. It is covers a big area and one must be prepared to walk a lot if you want to have a close look. Else, Golfcarts are also available for a cursory look. Worth visiting to relax also and if you have nothing else to do.
Mysore zoo, easily i can say one of the better zoo in India. With 2.5 to 3 km stretch you can view all the animals. Giraffe, tigers, lion, leopard, black cat, white peacock, anaconda and many other wild life have their home here. Nice zoo. Good to visit on non-holidays or weekdays
One of the best Zoo to visit, the place is well maintained, and the animals are clean and healthy. The best option to see the Zoo is to hire the Battery operated vehicle in the park.
Earlier this place was a very good well maintained place in Mysore when we visited in the early 2000's . Now its become a stinky place and the animals are also not kept in hygenic conditions.
Took my 3 years old daughter to this zoo on 7March2015. Being her first ever visit to zoo, the excitement and expectations were surging..We drove from Bangalore to Mysore in the morning. Started around 7:30AM. Reached around 10:30ish AM. Covered the zoo till lunch time and back home by 5PM ! 1. start early : You could do better by starting earlier. Best time to enter the zoo is the morning slot 8:30 to see the animals in action!2. Online : Their website is well organised and the animals inventory is updated. We booked online tickets. They are at higher price but worth it to avoid the rush at the ticketing counter. Online ticket can cover parking, entry, luggage, camera, battery car charges, all prices are different for online buying.Once you reach their, please mention to the parking lot attendant that its a online ticket booking so that he allows you in without a new ticket. Also at the entry keep telling the guards that you have online ticket, they will let you in immediately through a different door. There was absolutely no wait time for us at entrance although the queue at the ticket counter was real lengthy ! 3. battery cars are good : they are simple 9-11 seater carts which will take you for the tour. They will stop at strategic points and you can walk around .. checkout the animal cages and hop back on the cart.If you donnot take a cart, the walk is of around 3 KMs. 4. facilities : theres a small canteen in the middle of the zoo. Toilets are not world class. basic clean. theres a sovereign shop beside the canteen. We missed this shop.. so you please dont!5. animals/birds : the collection is very good. Giraffes welcome you quielty. The birds section is varried. macaws and the white peacock is the major attraction. Leopards are energitic. The elephant arena is huge. they have African elephants and rhinos too.The human like monkey was the scariest creature I thought. that ape looked soooo close to a human being with hairless body and human like movements. Overall a highly recommended for children! The pathways are clean and green. Parents are assured of a stress free trip.
The best part is that one can hire an electric vehicle to take you around the zoo. Otherwise it is quite a long exhausting walk. Animals are kept in open spaces with trenches around as far as possible. some are in cages.
I have been to some of the zoo's and this is the best among them...Giraffe, zebra, African elephant, white tiger, white deer, white peacock and many more...Amazing for kids...Only issue I found is drinking water.. so its better u carry water inside..ENTRY ticket 50/60 weekday/weekendAnd children below 5 are free..They do have electric buggy (125/- per person, 75/- for senior citizen)They charge refundable 10/- per plastic bottle and plastic packs.. which is great idea.. so that people preserve it to get the refund back and don't just throw it anywhere...Best time to visit morning till 11 and after 2pm... Don't miss it if u visiting with kids...Enjoy..
