I would not personally have chosen to go to the Pyongyang Zoo, but I had ended up with a spare day by myself in Pyongyang, and this was one of the lesser visited sites for tourists that my guides took me to.The zoo had a sizeable collection of animals, and some of the exhibits were of a decent size, but unfortunately the conditions for animals in other parts of the zoo were very poor. A few of the exhibits also mixed animals that I'm sure shouldn't be kept in pens together, most notably were the lions and tigers, which shared a fairly small enclosure.Another odd site was seeing normal domestic cats and dogs in the zoo. They had a big section with lines of cages, similar to what you may see in a standard animal shelter, containing regular cats and dogs. This part of the zoo really stank especially around the dogs, and it was rather sad to see groups of puppies behind bars barking for attention and pawing at us through the cage walls. There was a lot of building work going on in sections of the zoo, which gives me hope for larger enclosures in the future, but at my time of visiting this was a rather sad collection of animals.
A zoo with some differences. There are two different animal in a cage. White tiger. Clean environment and Well insight transportation.
