It's definitely worth the 45 minute hike. The trail is kid friendly and and not that difficult. Sights along trail is also beautiful. We're lucky to have the falls to ourselves during our visit. Just make sure to bring a change of clothes so you can enjoy swimming there.
Long walk to paradise but with stop over so you at least rest and eat their kakanin whick is like carioca here in Manila. Buko is so refreshing to drink here which are readilly available. Long walk means longer time to appreciate the beauty of nature. Once you arrive at the falls I'm definitely sure you will fall in love with the falls. Be early if u want to experince the fall all by yourself coz tourist continually arrive till the afternoon and if u dont want extra in your pictorial.
This year round flowing falls has an information centre just off the national road a couple of kilometres prior to the turnoff for all the Blue Lagoon beaches. There are a couple of basic stores including the coop's with the latter selling a small number of souvenirs. The local cooperative runs the tour guiding with a fixed price of P100 that I doubled by giving the same amount to our 31 year old female guide, Neneth, who was most helpful. The guiding commenced around 2000. Tourism is increasing with between 300 tourists visiting the falls in the summer of March and April down to just five or six on quiet days in the off season, which may be around August. The walk is advertised at 1.5 kilometres but seemed longer. I only wore reef shoes so I felt every stone along the way of which there are many. There were three log bridges to cross plus a couple of much smaller mini boardwalks as the trail zigzagged. All were well constructed. The walk partly went through a forest glade and culminated in the magnificent, very cold and naturally clean water that was fast flowing from the 107 metre, or about 33 metre high soectacular falls. Once one git inti the water it was most pleasant. There were beautiful large blue-black butterflies movinzg swiftly near the falls as was the occasional dragonfly. The rocks underfoot were smooth. I wanted to swim but as I had to depart my accommodation by noon, I curtailed the stay to half an hour. The guide assisted by taking photographs as required. Her English was quite reasonable. She said that more mainland Chinese were coming but Filipinos were the mist frequent visitors followed by Canadians and Australians. The walk each way done slowly took 36 minutes, but with fully enclosed footwear could take 15 to 20 for a reasonably fast walker. These falls make an excellent short third of a day. Please visit and support the 110 guides who need income. I did not see any pathside rubbish either side of the walk to or from the falls. Please keep it like this.
We loved this part of our tour. We tried to pay our fee twice (foreigners ignorance) and our guard laughed at us (kindly of course) but we appreciated their honesty. We went for a walk which we were told was a 'hike' it wasn't that bad at all, even in our sandals. The scenery is beautiful along the walk, mountains jutting up next to rice fields. We finally reached the waterfall and it was gorgeous, the only thing I would have wished would have been to be there in the middle of the day as we were still in morning shadow so the water wasn't lit up and I imagine it would shine a brilliant green. Definitely would recommend doing this if staying in Pagugpud.
This is the last destination of our south and north tour. After paying the entrance fee, we are accompanied by one of the resident tour guide of Kabigan Falls. The trek from the main entrance to the falls is almost 1.5 kilometers. If you are not accustomed to long walks, you'll definitely get tired, thus a few stops and a bottle of mineral water is all you need. Kabigan Falls is surrounded by vast forest and you can see freshwater rushing along the trail from the falls. Sometimes, muddy, sometimes rocky, a little uphill there and then, but the trail to Kabigan Falls is a scene to behold. When we reach the site, we can't help but enjoy the gushing water from atop the mountain. There are a few tourists enjoying a dip on the concave basin of the falls and the waters during that time is not that deep but not too shallow. We took a dip and enjoyed the cool refreshing water. As usual taking pictures is a must in this falls. It may be a long 30 minute walk to the falls, but it is worth the sweat.
Together with a guide you'll embark on a surprisingly nice and comfortable trek towards the waterfall, passing small rivers and open fields on the way. The waterfall itself is great and serves as a nice finish, but I think the walking there deserves some credit as well. The guide will escort you to the waterfall for free, but as in most places you'll have to pay a small environmental fee for entering the park.If you're in Pagudpud, this is a must. Don't forget the camera and a change of clothes for swimming!
We were accompanied by our friendly guide after we registered at the entrance. It was a 15-30 minute trek from the main road. There were stalls that sells banana cue, coconut juice and other local refreshments that were very affordable. We saw foreign tourists who were leisurely taking a carabao ride down the mountain. As we were nearing the mountain, our trek was tiring (we were not used to trekking). We could see creeks of clear flowing water along our walk. We could hear the sound of the gushing water as we got nearer. Be careful of the slippery rocks and bridges though. Logs of wood were used as bridges to provide access to the falls. When we got there, our efforts were rewarded by a picturesque view of the falls. Try to climb down to have a swim. The water was very cold and clean. It really is amazing that such untouched beauty still exists there.
I am happy that this place is part of our vacation. We walked for more likely around 30 minutes with our very nice tour guides. By the time that we reached the falls it took my breath away... very lovely setting, Its good for picture taking and swimming too! the water was very cold that time and we loved it! and there are also food stand along the way. so you'll never get hungry.
We visited the place with senior citizens and they enjoyed the time there very much. There could be some minor improvements in fixing bridges and handrails. But our very friendly guide told us, that the government planing to build a road to the falls. PLEASE don't build that road! It would destroy not only the environment but the entire ambience. There is a nice car parking at the entrance. There is a 20 Pesos/pax entrance fee plus a 100 Peso guide fee. From there you have a nice walk along a stream for about 30-45 minutes. Several - but not too many- food stalls offering local desserts and fresh drinks along the way.We could see butterflies and birds along the way and a beautiful scenery (young growing rice fields) and mountains around. The waterfall is surely worth a visit. Its possible to swim under the waterfall.
Who will not get amazed with falls? the freezing water and its healing properties. Its tiresome nature trekking for about 30minutes but it will be replaced with relaxing feeling afterwards. All energy drained will pay off. Along the way, there are Coconut juice vendors selling junk foods and local delicacies if one intends to have stop over. Tired bones? there is a carabao ride, of php25pesos per person and having a capacity of approximately 8persons. But the thrill of trekking is better. We were charged php30 pesos per person excluding the fee of the tour guide which is a must especially if there is elder around. The fee is just like giving a generous tip and of great help for the locals because it has become their source of income. When we arrived at the meeting point where vehicles can be parked for free, there are a lot of tour guides. I just hope more tourist will come to the place. Its worthy every penny, energy and time. We spent less than 2 hours and its memorable. by the way, no CRs at the falls and you can change clothing back at the meeting point. I admired the ordinances imposed that prohibits throwing trashes. along the way, i have not seen one.
The trek to the falls is so tiring. I even forgot to bring water to drink. My friend and I walked way too far to reach the falls. The rate to visit the falls is at P80, more or less, then we added some more for our tour guide who answered everything I asked (I am always curious in everything that seems interesting). Right when we arrived at the falls, I am in awe and kept taking pictures (LOL).
I paid P150.00 for 2 adults, 2 students and 1 child at their office and was given one tour guide.it was a warm morning which is good for a short exercise. We started at 8 in the morning (I suggest you go earlier so you can have more time to stay in Kabigan and Blue Lagoon) and the tour guide said it's a 30 minute walk to the falls. Just enjoy the walk by looking around and listening to the sound of water coming from the mountain. The guide wasn't that helpful, she wasn't talking and was not helping my 55 year old mom or my 9 year old child. The falls was not the stunning but I loved the cool water after the short walk. I'm glad it was just my family in the area at that time, we had the place for ourselves. There are refreshments and snack along the way. Pure Coconut juice is P15.00 per cup.
Must-knows:1. For a party of two, we paid P80 to get to the falls (inclusive of entrance fee and tour guide). I don't quite recall the breakdown of fees but the payment is required. Even though the trek is relatively easy as there is a path to follow, you'll still need to hire a tour guide as I believe guests are only allowed a maximum of 30 minutes within the falls, itself. The guide will take your photos for you, too, and will watch over your belongings while you're swimming.2. It's a 30-minute trek to the falls; and, of course, another 30 minutes going back to the starting point. You'll be passing through fields of rice and nearing the falls, the path is laden with rocks to a few boulders. It was sunny when we were there so strong sandals fit the hike.3. The waters of the falls are freezing, but were good since the hike can get one really tired and sweaty. Some of the rocks are a bit sharp, too, so you have to be careful. The basin isn't too deep, either; but it gets a bit tricky nearing the falls so you have to know how to swim just to be careful. Is it worth the trip? Definitely yes. It's a testament of the beauty of the province and shows the daily living of the locals - from farming to ladies washing clothes along the stream. It's a nice experience to also drink fresh coconut juice straight off the fruit itself.
The best time to visit is during the summer when the trail is not muddy or slippery. Make sure to bring swimwear as the dip in the cool waters will calm and relax the weary traveler. The trail is easy to follow so having a tour could be just an option.
we enjoyed our trek uphill to see this falls. wear a good slipper so you wouldnt end up walking barefoot. Water is so refreshing better go here as early as possible to avoid the crowd. Be responsible with your trash.
