Pawikan sanctuary in Maitum is an initiative started by a local to conserve the marine turtles of the area. One gets an exhilarating experience of setting free a few baby turtles out into the open with the hope that they will brave the harsh conditions of the sea and be able to evade predators to live to adulthood as only 1% out of a 100 eggs make it to adulthood.
