el sendero del cacao

This was such an interesting and educational trip. As Canadians we do not have cacao plantations and to be able to experience the whole process from planting right through to eating the chocolate was wonderful. I brought some back to Canada for my sister who found it to be of excellent quality.

I got a great time with my kids in "El Sendero del Cacao". We learned a lot about Cacao and Chocolate, even we could do chocolate figures by our selves. The place is so beautiful and warming, the people was so kind. We could do a lot things, not only listening. The kids enjoyed so much. They included the food and was so delicious. It was a great great trip. If you want to learn and having fun in a same place, you have to go there.

The Cacao is one of the most important products of exportation in the Dominican Republic. Visiting the Hacienda Esmeralda and having the opportunity to know the process of the chocolate, that delicious food that enlightens everyone's day, is a very nice experience.Is a very comfortable place, staff is very friendly, facilities are very clean and well maintained and the access is easy. Is a two hour interactive tour for all the family.Is a two hour drive from Santo Domingo, totally worth it to go with family (all ages) or friends an spend the day outdoors and in touch with nature. Once there, people usually visit the nearby attraction "El Museo de las Mirabal".It's recommended to wear sunscreen and repellent. They offer water and a delicious meal included in some tour prices.

I went with a group of 20 people, and they were able to easily accommodate us. The staff were very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable.

Great tour with nice explanations about the cocoa and the chocolate. The whole tour was very entertaining for all.I recommend to visit this place with your family.

I was delighted to see the lively town of san francisco de macoris (a lot of businesses and stores) and the Hacienda La Esmeralda where El sendero del cacao is.They have made a great job in creating this interesting excursion where at the same time you can enjoy a beautiful environment and learn about the cocoa growing and how the chocolate is made (you can even prepare your own chocolate yourself).certainly lunch leaves a lot to be desired as many people have said before but the welcome hot chocolate at the arrival is superb.the staff is extremely friendly and the guide knows how to give a good tour that is funny and easy to understand

It is interesting, the guide was knowledgeable, her English was good. The tour group was small and personalized. It was very expensive for the Dominican Republic. The lunch was limited in choices and not well cooked. I have wanted to learn more about cacao growing, and the production of chocolate so I was very interested in the tour. It was worth doing.

You have to drive almost 2 hours from Santo Domingo to Hacienda La Esmeralda, where is El Sendero del Cacao in San Francisco de Macoris. I have seen many tours in many countries. If you like chocolate, this is a must go for you. They have made a great arrangement in the ranch, to show you how cacao is grown, handled and turned into ine of the finnest chocolates in the world. Being Doninican Republic one if the biggest exporters to the world finnest and bigger and small chocolatiers of the world, here then you have to go. They give you a guided tour an all the step of the process , show how everything was done before, and how is done today. They will answer any question. Also you will make your own chocolate that you take home. They have a small shop to buy chocolates and souvenirs. They have a aeting area with lunch if you buy it in the package and beverages to buy. The drive will make a great sigthseen if dominican countryside. Very easy to get there. A most in Cibao area ( center part of the country )

I can say this place has everything to be with your family. Great food, gift shop, expand your knowledge about cacao and chocolate. Very beautiful place. I recommend it 100%. If you go to San Francisco de Macoris you should go this place.
