I have to say this was the best excursion ever! We were staying in Condado, so we got to rent a car and drive a bit through the island, which was a treat in itself. But once we met Roqui at the base of the mountain and followed him up the hill we were enchanted. The rainforest is so amazing, you can feel the earth breathing, and welcoming you to explore. Roqui and Eric were fantastic, you know they do 2 tours a day, and must give the same speeches over and over but it seemed like we were the first group ever! They were so happy, friendly, and knowledgeable that I walked away feeling like a zipline pro. I also felt a bit smitten, so watch out ladies, these jungle men are not just nice, they are gorgeous as well!We did 5 ziplines, with the last one being a spectacular, long view above the trees with an uninhibited view of the forest. We also got some cool nature facts and tidbits along the small hike you take up to the final two lines. There was a bit of a surprise at the end which was amazing, and I’ll leave it at that!If you want to zipline in PR this is definitely the spot! Super safe (we had an engineer in the group, and yes, we assessed), beautiful, and a great mini escape out of the busy hectic world and into a lush, tropical paradise.
I was extremely hesitant in booking a zipline due to my fear of heights. I sucked it up for my husband's birthday and do not regret doing so one bit. LOVED this adventure and most of all our guides Eric and Jamar. If you are like me, and get vertigo while being high up and or are scared of heights, do yourself a favor and do NOT skip this adventure! I promise you, that will not play a factor in your enjoyment. We met Eric at a meeting point about 3 minutes from the actual YZA house. There were three groups with 14 people total, so not too many people. I want to say that first half an hour was used for filling out forms, getting proper fitted equipment and orientation of the zipline. Immediately Eric made me feel at ease with his easy going personality, humor and knowledge of the safety of ziplining. We started out with a small zip line to get everyone acquainted with the process of ziplining. It was my first time and I loved the exhilaration that comes with soaring through the tree tops and beautiful views of mountains right off the bat. We did an additional and a slightly longer zipline after the first one. Both Eric and Jomar (our other guide) did all the grunt work of hooking our carabiners up, unhooking them and guiding us through the ziplining process. They were very friendly and fun. They refered to everyone by their first name right off the bat, which impressed me greatly. After the second zipline we hiked for about 20 minutes through the rainforest. Eric did an awesome job describing the ecology of El Yunke and pointing out interesting nature stuff. We got extremely lucky with the sunny weather and no rain. The last three ziplines were just as fun as the first two with the 5th and final zipline being the longest and having the prettiest views. It ended on a platform of a pretty tall tree. At last there was an assisted rope rappel off the platform. Again, as my fear of heights was kicking in, Eric immediately nipped it in the butt by making me feel comfortable while demonstrating the safety of the carabiners and joking the whole time. The repelling ended up being very exciting as well. As you might think that $95/person is a pretty price tag for this experience, let me assure you that its well worth it! It was such a fun-filled morning and superseded all my expectations. My whole group thought the same. Our only complaint was that we wished there were a few more ziplines. My recommendation would be to buy cheap sneakers that could be tossed later at wallmart and bring lots of bug spray. Although, they did offer that as well at the lodge.
Our group of 14 enjoyed this experience very much. Our tour guides were Louis, Jesus, Christopher and Sammy. They were not only professionals, they were concerned with our safety at all times while making our adventure fun and memorable. After the zip line experience we enjoyed a cool, refreshing dip in the nearby river using a rope swing. I highly recommend this excursion.
This was an incredible experience for me! I've never zip lined before and was nervous, but Roqui and Eric gave very good instructions before beginning the activity. The first 2 zip lines are set up in a way that if you decide it's not for you, you can stop and sit out the rest of the tour (although the tour is so much fun, so you should just do it!). Roqui gives a quick instruction before each zip line, then goes across so that he can help people at the ending platform. Eric stays behind and gets you hooked up to the zip line, and helps you get started, so that people of all levels can safely enjoy. Both of them are very friendly guys, and throw in some great facts about the forest, and also used some humor. The "hike" into the forest could be challenging if you've got mobility issues or if the ground is overly wet, however, I'm not in the best shape and did the hike very easily. They have put in ropes to hold onto for some of the steeper ascents, so it really is very safe and manageable. Do not pass this up! Truly amazing experience, and after we finished the tour, they even gave us great advice on things to do around the Luquillo area so that you're not driving out there just for the ziplining (although that would be worth the drive). And, the directions on the website to the meeting point are easy to follow, and Roqui even calls you 30 minutes before meeting, just to make sure you have the directions and will be able to make it out there okay.
Fun beyond believe. Safe adventure to learn about rainforest and have fun. This was our first time zipping, Eric and Roqui explained everything and made it easy. Must try while in Puerto Rico. Now I'm going zip when ever possible and I'm 50!
Hello Mike,Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Yunke Zipline Adventure. We are curious as to your rating of our tour. You mention that the tour was fun, that the guides were good and that the place was scenic, yet you give us a rating of "Poor". It seems your driving experience was worse than it should have been. When we take your reservation we try to be clear about the directions to our meeting place and we insist on drivers to refer to our web site. Our site is located in the foothills of the Luquillo Mountains, off a narrow country road. We do not give directions directly to our site. Our directions are for a meeting place at road 992 in Luquillo. We meet at a community basketball court that is located only 2 miles (4-5 minutes) into road 992. Road 992 is a two lane country road. The lead guide of the tour meets participants at the basketball court. Once the group is assembled, participants follow the lead guide in their rental cars or taxis. This caravan drive up to the site is just 5 more minutes. We do this for safety and convenience of the drivers. It's is an uphill drive (ascend 500ft inelevation) on a narrow road, but our system is the best solution to the reality of our location.
This place is by far the best value for your money in the ziplines around El Yunque. Rocqui, the owner, leads most groups himself and is extremely knowledgable about the local ecology. He and Jomar were very patient with the more apprehensive members of our group and made it a fun and educational experience for everyone. Rocqui even gives his cell phone number out and invites groups to text him for directions and restaurant recommendations in the area if needed. We highly recommend YZA and are already looking forward to our next trip!
Views were fantastic, guide was really knowledgeable about the environment which was an added bonus. We all had a great time, including 50 year old mom (birthday celebration).. None of us had zip lined before, but we felt 100% safe. Really beautiful spot. Thank you!!
My 17 yr old and 21 yr old daughters did the zip lining today. They really enjoyed it! There was some hiking involved but they had a lot of fun.
The BEST!!! Roqui and Jomar were wonderful tour guides, not only in explaining the rainforest and Zipline experience, but also sharing the history of the Puerto Rican people. Fantastic people, and I would recommend them to anyone.
Roqui & Eric were great tour guides. They went out of their ways to help us and guide us through the zip line. While we waited for the others to complete the route, they filled us in on the rich history of the rain forest. They just had so much to tell us about the culture that as we hiked to the next level we wanted to hear more. I definitely recommend it.
We had a great time on this excursion. We had a pretty big group so they were kind enough to open a time slot for us when they were not otherwise going to go. Good start. They were very good about communication leading up to our date, and helpful with directions. Eric, our main guide, was very safety conscious, friendly and helpful. They go though the procedure well, so you know what's coming. There are a variety of zip lines and a rappelling bit at the end that's a lot of fun. Bring bug spray. There was one short wait at the end where we were bitten by some sort of gnats. The views are gorgeous, it's worth it just to be there. This is well worth doing.
Absolutely do the Yunke zipline tour! This was so much fun and our guide was so full of knowledge about PR and the private reserve where we did the ziplining. You do a small hike to the next platforms and the quality of the harnesses and gloves were excellent. We had so much fun and it's an easy outing for a few hours and then you can head to El Yunque and do some hiking to La Mina Falls.
Our kids 10,13 & 16 had a blast! I was nervous, but after all of Roqui's thorough instruction, I felt much better. Then, after the first run...I was confident this Zipline was safe and just had fun! You look out, not down, so any fear of heights should be easier. It's double cabled for complete safety. Roqui explained a lot about the local flora on our hike. Made a spontaneous decision to Zipline and glad we did!
We had a super time with Roqui and Jomar! They were both very friendly, professional, prepared and great about sharing their knowledge about PR in general, the rainforest and, of course, the adventure experience that they had worked to create! Everyone in our family enjoyed the entire experience - zipping, hiking, rappelling down the beautiful tree and just talking to the guides! The pace was easy-going and our only regret was that my mom (71) didn't come as she definitely would have LOVED it! This was a great choice by our daughter to celebrate her 16th bday on the island! Thanks guys!
