Guanica is a very well known for its beaches, one of my favorite is Gilligan's Island. To get there you take a boat and it takes a couple of minutes. Unlike other beaches in Guanica the water is very clean and it is very well kept. The island itself is very beautiful and it's a very good place to take your friends and family. The wildlife on the beach is also very good and there are many fishes on the water. As you can see Gilligan is an amazing beach and I would recommend it to anyone.

A short boat ride ($7) took us to the island which had a nice beach and and awesome cove which was a great place for our first experience snorkeling. Calm and about 3 feet deep, the mangroves were overrun with various tropical fish. You can ride over or back on the hour. There is a compost toilet on the island and a few shelters, but no other amenities.

This Island is simply beautiful, is crystal clear and the trees surrounding it are very pretty, the only bad thing is that there is always a lot of people. I went twice and I found my trip more pleasurable when I went on a kayak by myself, it's easier to be around the island in the kayak because basically there is no please to set up like chair or anything unless you go like really early.

We rented kayaks from Copamarina Beach Resort (looked like a very nice hotel by the way with beach access out you back door and several activities). Cost was $30 for 2 hrs for a double. It was a fun trip. 20ish minute kayak each way. You can't cross the roped off areas with the kayak so you have to go around the island and enter down one of the waterways from the back, which is actually pretty neat because they are lined with Mangroves. These are the best places to snorkel - more marine life and less people. Waters a very clear and shallow so great place for kiddos too. If you want to make a day of it, come early and snag one of the few covered areas. You can bring lunch or order it from one of the restaurants that boats food over. Don't forget the sunscreen, although there is plenty of tree cover if needed. Going around the island is nice because the waves break farther out so it stays very calm all the way around the island.

Reaching Guanica its fun lots of farms you can see around, until you get Gilligan,s Island. A magestic island of wonderful views of crystals waters and beautiful sunsets. Exploring the island its fun, lots of roads that can take you round the island. Just imagine an Pirates of the Caribbean experience jeje. Enjoy!!!

Looking at other comments about the crowding, we must have lucked out: there were only 7 of us on the entire island the day we went. Yes, there isn't much of a "beach." It is a mangrove forest with small patches of sand in between, as others have noted, and it's totally charming. It is supposed to be good for snorkeling, but on the day we were there, the current was strong and few fish were visible. But the water is so crystal clear, and the setting so unique that I found it idyllic.

It is a mangrove forest with small patches of sand in between, and it was wonderful. there were tons of people but we had our own private beach. The water was crystal clear and perfect. My kids snorkeled and saw fish and even a little octopus. Yes, there is nothing there to eat. No vendors! Take a cooler and your own food. If you are a good swimmer, we heard we could swim up the river to even better and less beaches but since we had a 5 year old with us we chose not to do that; nevertheless, we found a perfect place to relax and enjoy the water. We had a great time.

It is more or less mangrove forest with small patches of sand in between. Clearly locals love it - there are BBQ set up everywhere to help make good picnics. The water is shallow and clear .... But there is no nice place to sit on land and relax. The public beach on the main island just across would be a better place to spend the day or a day at Copamarina resort.

Such a great time!! Came here w a few friends to spend the day we had an amazing time. It's around $7 per person for the boat ride (both ways) and $5 more if you are bringing a cooler. I would recommend you bring a cooler because there is nothing at the island - we brought lots of alcohol and food. Although you can order food from the restaurant before leaving and they'll bring it you - honestly the food is not that great. You are better off bringing your own sandwhiches chips and whatever else you want to eat and drink.Lots of fish and stuff to look at if you're into that

We wanted to take our kids (11,9,5) snorkeling with our own equipment and we didn't want to spend a fortune. This place was perfect. A little boat ride for $7 a person takes you to this small island surrounded by shallow clear water. We saw tons of a variety of fish and the island itself had large iguanas walking around with several birds. My kids, my husband and I loved it and we will definitely be back. Also I might add the view was breathtaking ;)

Visited October 5 2014. There is no shore to lay out in.angroves everywhere. Not pretty. No where to sit or stand comfortably. Very small area. Water is pretty but no better than the one on Coparina Resort. Don't waste your time. Everyone returns on the first shuttle back.

It's a cay on the south side of Puerto Rico by the Guanica county. It's a natural reserved controlled by Natural resources, which means it has a schedule, most be out of the island by 5 pm. There is a ferry service leaving from San Jacinto it's about $7 per person round trip. It leaves as soon as the ferry is full. They charge additional for any icebox or big bags (luggage)... The same type of ferry is also available if you are staying @ Copa. Marina Beach resort. Be there early, as the cay has a maximum capacity.Take beach chairs, as there is none available @ the cay, refreshments and something to eat. You can also ask the people @ the ferry service to take you some food, but must be paid in advance. Shallow waters, except @ the canals where you can have a nice safe snorkeling experience. Can take floating devices, and snorkeling gear. The best of all clear prestige waters.Take garbage bags please. Garbage can are available but garbage you be deposited in bags. Don't leave anything behind so other people may enjoy the place.

If you want to disconnect from the routine Gilligan's Island is the perfect place. To me Gilligan is one of the best beaches in Puerto Rico. You must arrive early to the dock from where the boat takes people to the island because it is always full. The cost of the boat trip is around $ 7. The food on site is not very good but the beauty of the island is breathtaking. Its waters are crystal clear and warm. I love the place because it has several gazebos and also has many shades that vegetation provides. Also has two water channels in which you can find a variety of marine species so I suggest you bring your snorkeling equipment. On site there are toilets available as well as an employee of Natural Resources. I recommend when you leave the island stopping to eat at the "Malecon de Guanica" where they make a corn cob and baked potatoes which are very good.

We were told that the ferry runs every hour. We took our snorkel gear. Saw nothing but sand and sea grass. Waited close to 3 hours for the ferry to return. My husband had to call them to come pick us up. They hung up on him!No communication. Lady at restaurant/bar was rude. Everyone seemed to be in a bad mood that day. Not sure if there was a family conflict going on or what. But, they apparently were not happy to be serving two drinks or running a ferry.
