A wonderful place to relax and get away from it all. Located just miles outside of Negril Jamaica, Half Moon Beach is a small resort that has seven cottages built on scenic plots of land located on on side of the property, secluded from the beach and bar areas. All cottages have a wonderful view, natural wind (no AC), decks that overlook the ocean, some with natural outdoor showers (surrounded by bamboo, open to the sky). There is a wonderful private sandy beach with great views, a dance floor and stage area for live shows. The have 2 bars, one on the main grounds where they serve great food and spirits as well as the new bar on its own island out on the ocean. Just a boat ride away 10 minutes) which the resort will taxi you over and back. If you prefer a bamboo raft to take you out to the island, they have it for you! Be careful you may never wanna come back. The island bar Calico Jacks Pirate Shack is a wonderfully made natural hut equipped with a bar, toilets, a seating area and an outdoor kitchen where you can get the most lip smacking lobster on the island. The cook prepares and serves the lobster to you right there on the island, wash that down with a cold Red Stripe and call it a wonderful day! I highly recommend this resort for the people who want to try something different than the norm or for those of you who continue to stay in locals resorts.
This was a nice quiet beach, no vendors here which was a treat and very quiet! We went about noon for the boat ride to the island bar for lunch! Our pontoon driver was kind of rude but we had a good time once we got to the island! As is common in Jamaica they weren't really ready to feed us yet as no one seems to get going there until mid afternoon! A nice young local taught us how to play dominoes so that kept us busy until lunch was ready! The island bar was a cool place but really no one there yet when we were! Apparently only us Minnesotan tourists like to drink beer and eat lunch at noon!! We had fun but once was probably good, doubt I'd return!
Great location way from the noise of Negril, super beach.A great spot to do dive trips from as the reef nearby is really good. However you need to arrange that on your own as they don't offer that.Basic facilities, but a great spot for an afternoon.
Had the pleasure this trip to go twice with different friends. This location is just past Rhodes Hall as you head out of Negril towards Mo-Bay. The entrance fee is $ 5.00 to enjoy the tranquility of the beach and they have a few loungers along with restaurant /bar. There is another fee of $ 5.00 each, roundtrip to take a motor boat or house boat or wooden raft out to the Island Pirate Bar. Big plus for the Island bar is a flushing toilet into a holding tank so you can enjoy those few beers along with a tasty lunch cooked on the spot. This is a lovely shaded spot with a great breeze to hang out and chill and perhaps do a little snorkeling. Choice of Lobster/Chicken/fish with rice and peas - macaroni salad and coleslawwww.halfmoonbeachjamaica.com - thank you Tanya - Andrew and Josh for your hospitality!
Such a lovely place! The bay is so beautiful and calming compared to the 7 mile beach. However, there are ugly rabid looking dogs running around, lots of little bugs and crap in the non powdery sand. Still worth it.
This place gets better every time I go, now it has the coolest bar on an island off the island. Good snorkelling. Eco friendly and really yummy food! Spend 4-6 hours there or book a place overnight...I will next time! T
Stoney beach,no where to swim ,scruffy. The lobster lunch was quite nice.Horrendous journey on cat to get there, everyone sickShould have saved 160$ and stayed in resort with a much nicer beach
Half Moon beach is idillic, crystal clear waters, white sand and a bar and food shack. It's heaven particularly if you get there under your own steam and avoid the tourist excursions which arrive just before lunch. It's like starring in your own James Bond movie, providing you don't catch sight of relality in a mirror! Can't recommend strongly enough. Don't miss an opporunity to visit, leave your mirror at your all inclusive encampment!
Booked a bamboo raft tour, was awesome. $50 for 5 hours for 2 people. Jungle was our guide, I cannot say enough great things about him. Was great to talk to and knew a lot about the ocean and the area. Great sense of humour and super relaxed, top bloke! We rafted out to a small reef and went snorkelling together, we saw a sea snake, angel fish, sting ray and a lobster. Heaps of fish also. Then he took us to a bird island and we sampled a rum drink that he brought along in his esky, delicious!Final stop was an island with a bar, we had freshly cooked lobster and fish on the bbq and had some drinks.Great afternoon, would highly recommend, please ask for jungle, absolute legend!
easy to get to especially if you're on the lunch cruise. Stop for snorkelling, then to the beach for awesome buffet and frolicking!
We had the place to ourselves, put on a concert with the help of the fabulous Terry Gillespie and the staff/owners at this resort were amazing and wonderful! Beautiful beach, food was amazing BEST LOBSTER ON THE GRILL and the busy bar staff kept us going! thanks to all xo
A best kept secret! Lots of relaxing, sunning, snorkeling. Hastle free, no solicitors allowed!! Grilled Lobster and snapper for lunch!! Delicious!!!
We love this little gem. $5 to get in and you are on a small private beach. No music or higglers. Very good food at the restaurant. There is a bar sitting out in the water they will take u by boat but water was too rough the day we were there. About a 15 min car ride from Negril
Went to this beach for the day to get away from the 7 mile beach. It was a friendly welcome. No seats so we had a shade then we found some seats. Early afternoon. There was a old man and a young woman sitting naked, which I found offensive. It was a rocky start to going into the water and painful on your feet! I thouht the view was beautiful. There wasnt many people. So if you like that it is fine. You have toilets and fresh water to rinse off. it was better than the 7 mile. There is also long beach that looks better and less people. Before you get there!
Very unique location, excellent food, and entertaining staff. Snorkeling was not amazing, but the sunset made up for that.
