A very challenging and great course for everyone at a fantastic price......give it a try, you won't regret it.
The golf course is mediocre and so is the restaurant. Prices in the restaurant expensive for what you get.
This is most definitely a challenge. It was about a hour or so drive west-ish of Kanata/Ottawa, but well worth the trip. I saw 416 turn into 16, so I knew I had driven a good ways. This course definitely challenged my abilities with my not even half-set of borrowed clubs, and I shot about 6 strokes over my best, not too shabby looking back, as it was a bit more difficult of a course overall.I strongly recommend this course, as well as it's partner, the Pakenham Hills Golf Club (owned by the same people I found out). Calabogie has a lot more dog legs and uphills/downhills/sidehills, and approaching most of the greens much less the fairways will tax you mentally. The scenery is quite serene, and the Saturday I went, it was very peaceful and quiet for about the first 45 minutes, so I got to take in the farmlands adjacent to the course, and taking all the sounds and smells and sights in all while playing one of the better courses I've played since arriving in Canada. If you're looking to improve your score the same day, this is not the course for you. If you are looking to improve your overall game play and course management, then make the trip and play this 18.
to start it is a bit of a drive but that was part of the day.we played the nine hole and had a great time my partner was not a golfer and it was so nice to play at our own speed.pro shop was helpful with local inquiries the food was excellent and very large portions i can almost garuntee you won't leave hungry. staff were very pleasant an attentive.
loved the golf course even though hardly anyone on it, Stevie the beer cart girl is a doll and great to speak with, especially enjoyed the back nine, wish we had decided to stay there instead of across the lake but that's another review waiting to be submitted
This resort has everything! great service , great food. nice rooms with very comfy beds. A Ski hill , golf, and a lake all on site!!
Golfed here this summer with my parents and I loved it. It's a beautiful golf course with beautiful scenery. It also offers deals for different days during the week so call ahead if you are interested in golfing there and if the day doesn't matter to you. Really nice course. Out of all the surrounding golf course Calabogie is my second favourite, (Dragonfly being my first only because I grew up on that golf course).
The Highlands was a great place to stay! Accomodations were clean and very comfortable, villa was completely equipped with all that you'd ever need. We skied at Calabogie Peaks and it was nice to get away from the crowds and go back to the peaceful serenity of Calabogie Highlands. Staff were friendly. Would definitely recommend this to a friend as we certainly intend on going back!J and L MacDonald
Stayed here during Christmas with my family as there was no room at the peaks. I can't even start to explain how disgusting and unclean the units were. Bedding with holes in it, towels that were stained, floors that were disgusting and dirty. In addition, the closet doors were all broken, and when we communicated to the 'office' that the fireplace in our unit was working they said' thats too bad'. Never fixed it and we were stuck there for 5 days as it was over xmas and there were no other accomodations in the area. In addition, part of our our family was in unit where the carbon monoxide detector continued to go off every time the fireplace went on....this was after we had to BEG them to give us carbon monoxide detectors.Doesn't matter what the price is, it really isn't worth it.
This is a really remote place to stay close to ski hill, lake and adventure activiities. The satff is really laid back so if you expect service with the price tag (not cheap) you will be disappointed. It is a full suite. kitchen has everything you need. Is clean (except for the proliferance of cluster flys, fly swater included in room at no charge) It is an OK (not WOW) place to stay but a bit too expensive for where it is and what is available in the area.
