Nice park setting. Enjoyed the hikes and loved the waterfalls all along the hikes. Very clean park. Would go back for sure.

We visited in October, Thanksgiving weekend and really enjoyed our time there. The main falls are impressive and with the fall colours very picturesque. We took a walk along the trail past the bridges to the other viewing platform on the other side of the river. It's a nice easy walk until just past the bridges (if I remember right) but there are some steep sections beyond that on the way to the lookout. we turned back after the lookout because we didn't have time to do the loop. There are lots of nice views along the walk. It's a lovely spot and wasn't busy at all when we went.

This Provincial Park was clean, with big beautiful sites. The falls were great and swimming in the stream was fun for the kids.

Chutes is a great place for a family with kids. There are a few km of easy hiking trails, the sites are big and fairly private, there are some lovely sites quite close to the falls. The closer you can get thte better as the falls drown out the highway and railway noise. The beach is small and sandy and shallow with a full on view of the falls. Theres a little "island" (sand bar) for kids to explore. This is bear country but not a lot of bears seem to frequent the park. I went in late september and the combination of beautiful leaves and the falls and the warmth of the air and the cloudless sky was stunning.

We just stopped here overnight. It's a campground located within one kilometer of Massey, On. Massey is on the Trans-Canada highway and the main rail line West goes through the town, sothe noise of trains and traffic is a small issue obviously amplified at night. It's an attractive campground with some distance between sites. The main attraction here is the Chutes or rapidsthat go by the campground. There are a good variety of hiking trails available and they parallel the river on both sides joined by foot bridges. You can walk or hike 1 km. or 7 kms., whicheverroute you choose. You cannot bike the trails however. There is a sand beach at the base of the main rapids. We saw a fisherman doing quite well at the base of the falls. Good bathroom and shower facilities that are well kept. Would be good for a three or four day stay.

Great views of fall and chutes! We got a lot of great pictures and our guests really enjoyed it. The paths are well kept and clearly marked. There is a scavenger hunt for kids (we played a little too) and bikes are easily navigable. The day we went was a little chilly but there is a beach that is swimmable and looks nice.

Had a fabulous time here! We arrived late in afternoon, hadn't reserved a spot, but got one no problem. We even switched our site, and the park staff were extremely accommodating. Our site was near the falls, so the waterfall actually drowned out any potential noise from other campsites which was awesome! Did a beautiful hike around the falls in the morning, then went for a swim! Would have stayed longer if we had time - awesome place to stop for the night!

Clean showers, Super clean washrooms, GORGEOUS falls and relaxing times! Stayed there for 3 nights and could have stayed longer!

We stayed here for 3 nights people very friendly seen Park rangers every couple of hours walking and driving the grounds all night. out houses where the cleanest houses i have ever seen. Small park but it was great. Will go again.

We just visited a family camping with a big camper trailer....beautiful sites, large trees, well maintained trails, fun but rocky beach. My only complaint is the distance from campsite to beach because I had small children to tote back and forth. Beautiful place though.

While driving from Toronto to another, we decided to stop at Chutes Provincial Park and spend one night camping. This park is located just north of highway 17, north of Massey. It gets its name from a log chute that once diverted logs around the main waterfall during the days of river drives and horse logging.As per the park staff recommendation, we chose campsite no. 95, just across from the scenic rapids and waterfalls and we were very happy. Half hour later the campsite beside us was taken. There was at least one hiking trail, but we only had time to walk down a long staircase to see the falls. By the time we got the fire going and grilling our T-Bone steaks, the mosquitoes were in full attack, biting us horribly. We could hardly enjoy the dinner and the cold beer and retired to the tent, quickly falling sleep, listening to the soothing sound of the waterfalls.Even though we only spent one night at this park, we certainly liked the park very much and will certainly consider staying there if we are in the area next year.

Thank you Jim Moodie. I've lived in sudbury all my life and it wasn't until I read the article by Jim Moodie that I became aware of this park. It is less than an hour drive west of sudbury and directly off the highway. We went as day trippers. My intent was to do the 6km hike of the Twin River Trail along the River Aux Sables, I wasn't sure what to expect for trail conditions but I knew it was going to scenic. We set off at the base of the river where there was a bit of a beach area, not a sandy beach, but a pebbly beach. I believe the river is shallow and slow enough here to allow for swimming. Next up a set of stairs to to the first scenic outlook directly over the roaring shoots of the river. The next part of the trail takes you alongside the river and threw the campground areas. The trails are wide and well maintained , with huge pines and firs overhead. Also being one of the last days in Sept the colours were spectacular. I think there were two or three more bridges and several areas allowing for picture taking. The second part of the trail takes you threw mature forest, the trail was a little rougher but easy enough. We did the whole loop in under an hour at an easy pace. The trails allow you to do different portions. A great way a spend an afternoon. Just a few end notes about a provincial park itself. First, we went as day campers and we were required to pay $14.00 which we didn't mind especially if the money goes back into maintaining the park. We stopped at their bathrooms, they were incredibly clean. The park was well maintained and sites were all very neat. The falls were lovely, but the campground fell short of our expectations. The website was somewhat misleading, promising showers and flush toilets. In fact, for more than 100 sites, there is only one "comfort station," with showers and restrooms. Within the campground, pit toilets were all that were available. We were in the "radio free" loop, which was a bit of a joke because the Massey Fair was going on, with annoying loudspeaker announcements continuing until nearly 10 pm. Although most personnel were pleasant enough, after seeing our dog off leash when we first arrived, the rangers came by at least twice more (the dog was leashed). Not a place we'd return to.

Our gamily stopped here for an overnight on the way to Superior area. Great location along Hwy 17, nice sites, clean comfort station, one good hike with some great river views, and the Chutes. Swimming is alright. Park sits right beside town of Massey, pretty much in the town, and there has been some trouble with the locals coming into town and stealing liquor from your sites (we were warned at the front gate by a sign). Other than that one negative, and the sound of the train going through town, really a nice little park that serves it's purpose. It appears that we were not the only ones using this park as an overnight, as the majority of sites were emptied come morning. Close by is great canoe tripping and back country camping on Mississagi and Spanish rivers.

Great place to come with kids, hikes are easy but very scenic and the beach offers a great view. There are lots of wild blueberries to snack on and wild mushrooms. Park is also well kept, would be a nice place to camp as well with a town nearby. If you go make sure to check out the Native Touch chip stand next to the park entrance, the Indian Taco is delicious and so was the pickerel, friendly owners as well.
