we go every year to Greenview Avairies and absolutely love the placeso much to do for the kids and adults reasonable price and the animals are wonderful

How can this be OK?? Who knows but 2 full size eagles with massive wing span in a very small area together ....3 cougars pacing and making awful sound also in horrendous small cage shocking!!!! Disgust is what I felt for paying for this crap ...my kids were old enough to explain why it was so awful and they felt bad also about going we left after they played at park for a bit. We all need to stop supporting places such as these and teach our kids the same, they have tons of land there I don't know what excuses they could possibly give :(

I took my daughter and nieces here a few weeks ago. I can't get it out if my head. The poor animals were in such terrible conditions. Small cages with no enrichment...some with no, or very little shelter from either the elements or opportunity to hide from zoo guests. One monkey was showing obvious signs of distress as he was biting himself - which was distressing to the children, who wanted to help him. There is opportunity to feed the animals, which the kids really enjoyed....however there were other zoo patrons feeding food which they brought from home. Not sure how that can be good for the animals or how zoo staff can monitor adequate consumption.Unfortunately Greenview is a perfect example why we need proper laws about opening zoos on private property. Overall, the kids enjoyed the day. Besides the animals, there is a playground and water play area that they loved. They've all since forgotten the 'sad animals' they were upset about a few weeks ago. This is the reason I feel compelled to write this review. As guests going to this place it is fine to spend a few hours and then go home.....but these poor animals don't have the luxury of leaving. They are stuck here day after day, in deplorable conditions. While I'm an animal lover, I wouldn't say I'm an animal activist. After seeing this place though, i can see why we need activists. I will never come back here.

I would highly recommend a trip to Greenview Aviaries in Morpeth, about 1 hour from our home. Zoo is a self guided tour. Not alot of walking, lots of animals to see & feed up close. We bought a pail of feed for $4 which lasted all day and we fed lots of animals and still had some leftover to feed the birds. Splash pad, trampoline, balls to jump in, big sandbox with lots of Tonka trucks & shovels. Playground with lots of climbing equipment. Zip-line for the kids, slides, and so much more. I had a delicious toasted corned beef sandwich at their cafe. You can bring a picnic. Lunch combos included bottled pop not fountain drinks. Prices were reasonable for food. No charge for parking. I did not feel overcharged for admission or lunch. A very enjoyable daytrip. We did the zoo in the morning and got to watch the staff feed the animals fresh vegetables, fruit and raw meat. Animals were well cared for and seemed quite content there. Zebras were absolutely beautiful. After lunch we did the splash pad and other outdoor activities.

We recently took our kids ages 4, 2 and 8 months to Greenview. Despite the rain we had a great day. Our kids loved the big cats and the wolves too. I've been going there since I was a kid and it's even better than when I was a child. The play place is great and my oldest daughter loved the zip line and didn't want to leave. We liked that you didn't have to walk super far to see all the animals. I find my children get a little bored at the bigger zoos because they have to walk so far in between animal enclosures. Its a great place for younger kids.

Great day at the park with family - four kids in tow ages two to twelve. The animals seemed well cared for (although smallish cages for big cats). Great place for even small children to get close enough to ask questions and touch many safe animals. Kids loved the monkeys and zebras. The onsite restaurant was very clean and efficient - very affordable prices for families (kids meals $4 - adult combos $7-8). Lots of places for picnics if you prefer. Splash pad and play equipment was fun for the kids too. Trampoline, ball pit, slides, dinosaur figures! Washrooms, change rooms, snack bar, and grounds - all very clean even on a very busy day. They even have wagons to haul the kids ($2). Be sure to buy food for the animals by the pail ($4) or bag ($1). All in all, a great day at low cost.

Where is that fine line between enjoyment and exploitation? This should be a serious question for most activities--especially true when living creatures are involved.This "zoo" crosses that line horribly. The enclosures for the animals are much, much too small. They can't even claim any educational pursuit, since there is no information except the animals' names on the cages' placards. So while my children loved seeing these wonderful animals up close, as an adult with a heart and a conscience, I simply could not reconcile their enjoyment with the horrible conditions under which the animals are kept.It's a shame, too, because the rest of the park is quite well kept, and the play areas are excellent.But they are exploiting these poor animals for pure profit. Go to a proper zoo and avoid this place, unless you have no sense of guilt or complicity in the suffering of others. The excuse that it is "nice for kids" or "a great day out" simply doesn't square with the setting or the conditions, full stop.And just for the record, I am not anti-zoo or opposed to animals kept in captivity. But it MUST be done responsibly and ethically.

Found the zoo to be a nice destination for our day trip. The animals appeared cared for. The fences appeared way to short... I am sure the tigers could clear them :) There is a great play area for the children to play. Overall a great family visit. Do not forget to feed the camel, she was a family favorite!

We visited this area on our camping holiday and found it to be quite nice. Some of the concerns raised by others regarding the poor looking animals and small cages, etc seem to have been addressed. As we walked around we thought the animals looked very well kept. The grounds were clean and the play area for kids is fabulous! Lots of activities and play grounds to enjoy. Overall, a nice place to go for an afternoon.

The promo material made us hopeful that this privately owned zoo would be different from the other horror stories we'd heard about other zoos that have now, thankfully, been closed. Situated amongst farms and fields it looked promising when we drove in. The parking lot was full and there is a huge, well put together playground and waterpark right off the parking lot. After a quick ice cream in the restaurant we headed in to see the animals. At this point I was still hopeful as everything seemed clean and well put together.However, as soon as we saw the animals, we became uncomfortable. Beautiful tigers, lions, monkeys in tiny enclosures. The cougars hardly had room to stretch. Birds without clean water, a lemur with no water at all! Too many examples of too many animals stuffed into tiny spaces. The number of peacocks in their enclosures was particularly telling. Very sad. We also saw a snow monkey chewing on a pastic bottle and apparently a snake escaped while we were there. Even the watch dog, a Hungarian Kouvaz, and thier horses had matted hair and looked uncared for. I spoke to the staff about the plastic bottle, the dirty water in so many enclosures, and the lack of water in the lemur cage and all seemed fairly unconcerned. In fact, I spoke with the owner about the zoo, asking if this was his passion because it seemed like so much work to take care of everything and he flatly said "no!" And then tried to tell me that the cracked toddler swimming pools with dark brown water covered in scum and growing green algae was "clean". He said they had been changed two days ago and I was the first person to complain in a month! Shouldn't water be changed every day? He said no because it was too much work. Should there be any complaints all about animal care in a zoo? I wouldn't think so. I think the lack of passion for the work has affected the animals care. My three children and I were all disturbed by our experience at Greenview and Iwould strongly recommend giving this "attraction" a miss.

All of our family members were having lots of fun during our 4 hours stay at the Greenview Avaries Park & Zoo. We enjoyed visiting every section of this Greenview Avaries. Parents should apply their common sense in order to assist their kids for feeding appropriate animals. It was totally worth spending the minimum entrance fee, compared to the entrance fee of other zoo locations. Along with many other organizations, there are existing minor pitfalls in this zoo, which can be improved very easily with our support as well as with informative and effective feedbacks. In my personal opinion, this zoo needs more support from us to grow. Indeed, we will plan to visit this Greenview Avaries Park & Zoo again. All the best!

We were quite surprised and amazed at what the Greenview Zoo and Aviaries had to offer when we first visited there with our grand children. Being located near Ridgetown, Ontario, this attraction can easily be missed. But if one is able to find it, especially with your children, you'll find that this place is awesome. Highly recommended for families.There are lots of animals and variety of birds in this zoo. There are bald eagles, different vaireties of peacocks, various types of monkeys, a number of snakes, all kinds of birds, even a wallaby. The larger exhibits or safari game and larger animals is surprisingly well stocked. There are zebra, antelope, giraffe, lion, cheetah, ostirchs, bears, camels, elephants, tiger, etc.Aside from the zoo and the aviaries, there is a large play area for children. There are sand boxes, ball boxes, trampolines, all kinds of slides and swing, and a most popular zip line. There is a Shakespearean garden where there are miniature buildings simulating the town where Shakespeare lived. In the summer (July/August), the gardens show off giant lotus blooms.

My grandchildren loved this place ... The animals looked happy and health, and they had lots of room to move, and at same time we were able to enjoy them. The park is very sweet many things for the kids to do ... Water splash park, sand box with sand toys, and much much more.

We arrived at 9:30 on a late September Saturday morning, we were the only people there for at least the first hour. We enjoyed seeing all of the animals, the animals were pretty active while we were there since it was feeding time. To the people who complain about the conditions of the animals I have to say that some of the pens did seems small/boring for the animals but the alternative for some of these animals could be significantly worse, they all seemed happy and well cared for regardless of pen size. At no time was I concerned for any animal, if you don't like animals in pens stop going to zoos.The playground was huge, our 2.5 year old LOVED all of it. The splash pad was turned on after noon since it was a warm day. The playground and picnic areas were very clean and well cared for. We ate at the small restaurant, the food was good and quick. Nothing fancy just basic food as expected and the prices were not too high typical for a place like this. The only complaint I would have is the washrooms, they were large but a mess. This may not be the fault of Greenview since it appeared that everything was in working order every time I went in but someone should check the washrooms often since people don't seem to know how to flush and be neat.Overall we our experience was a VERY good one and we will be heading back next spring.

We visited this place, and had mixed feelings about it. There is lots to see and do there, with playgrounds, picnic areas, and lots of animals. However, the animals were not happy in the slightest. Many looked stressed and sad. I don't know much about the laws when it comes to caring for these animals, but I hope they take care of these animals a lot better in the future.
