This small park is a tranquil spot in busy Mississauga. There is a pond with lots of turtles and birds and a number of pieces of art from Mississauga's twin city, Kariya, Japan. It is worth the visit!
Kariya park offers a nice walk in the hot summer months. There are cute ducks on the pond and if you stay long enough you can observe their daily patterns. I love to watch a pair of ducks take off, make a circle and land while they chat in their duck language. Kariya Park is also a very popular destination for wedding photographs. Couples of various cultural backgrounds come here in their colorful wedding attires, sometimes bringing a wedding party along or even a live band. It is always fun to see different wedding traditions. Kariya Park can also be a tranquil place to read a book in the mornings, sometimes there are also Tai Chi classes you can join. It is small but pleasant year round.
Located very close to Square One Shopping Mall, this park is pretty small and remains closed during the winter months. or when it snows heavily. Good for walk during summer months
Nice for a short hike. Not a half day event given the small size of the park. But especially great if you just had a very full dessert from across the street (dimitri's).
This is a small park in the city which most people likely do not know is there. It is a quiet park good for sitting and talking or even just for some quiet time. Not a good place for group meeting so barbecues. If you are into geocaching, there is a geocache available in the park.
After reading the reviews I couldn't wait to see this park. To my disappointment it was a very small park. I think it was put there for the 10 condos in the area so that these people have a little park to walk through. It took all of 10 min. to walk around, 5 if you walk a little faster. It really wasn't anything outside of a little pond with a waterfall & a few walking paths in a circle with trees. It has a nice ambience but unless you are in the area I wouldn't waste my time. There is however, free parking on the street or in the education parking lot.
Good place to take pictures in early spring. It can get busy sometimes as lot of people go there for their wedding pictures.
my fiance now husband and i picked this park for our wedding photos because of the beautiful cherry blossoms. we got married end of may and sadly there were no cherry blossoms (maybe because of the long winter?) it's a good sized park for wedding photos with various backgrounds for photos (water, bridge, grass, path, stairs) and it has a lot of shade for lighting effects and staying cool on a hot day. because it's not too large, you can get your photos done pretty quickly because you don't have to walk across an entire park to get a change of scenery!
Amazing, this place is a gem in the middle of downtown Mississauga. Everyone should go there, you won't regret it!
My wife and I used Kariya Park to do our wedding shoot and found the park to be beautiful. Our pictures turned out wonderful (also have to hand it to our photographer) but the natural setting was beautiful and relaxing.
A welcome relaxation corner in the middle of crazy traffic of a megalopolis. Beautiful Japanese garden with a pond and a wooden pavilion, as well a small Zen stone garden.
A wonderfully designed and executed garden with a distinct taste of the Far East's exquisite passion for tranquility and serenity. It is almost a temple for spiritual peace and positive meditation
We went to Kariya park in August 2012 with our photographer to take pictures before our wedding reception. The site is great and lots of opportunities for really cool shots. There is a fountain that you can walk by, there are benches, flower bushes, stairs and nice trees. Great local site. We did have to get a permit from the city of Mississauga, but completely worth it!
Tucked in a corner near Square One and Celebration square, this quite park makes and ideal afternoon retreat for reading books in summer. The ducks and other fishes add to a nice scenery.
This is a great little park in Missisauga that celebrates a partnership with Kariya, Japan. A beautiful little gem. No animals are allowed as there are ducks in the park. Lots of weddings use this area for photography so is busy in the weekend.
