Worth the drive from banff! We went here late afternoon and did kayak. Definitely the highlight of our trip. The lake is just gorgeous and picturesque. Truly stands up to its name. In the afternoon the water is calm and you can take pictures of the mountains having reflections on the water. Just amazing.I definitely recommend visiting and kayaking in this beautiful lake.

I loved this place and want to go back and stay at the lodge. We only stayed a day and did some hiking. Drove there from Lake Louise and glad we did. The only thing was the crowd. We went in the off season.... we thought... the second week of Sept. The tour buses with crowds of people kinda spoiled the serenity I had hoped to enjoy in such a breathtaking place. That being said.... It is worth seeing and hiking around the lake. At the end of the lake we found Coyote, Elk and Moose tracks. We really wanted to stay and do more hiking.... We will be going back.

Great accessible trails, and beautiful view! Paths are cleared somewhat, but in the winter time, you definitely want to wear proper footwear and possibly ice cleats.

My husband and I rented a jeep in Skagway and drove up to Emerald Lake. It was a rainy day, but was still a beautiful drive. Our turn around point was Emerald Lake. Unfortunately we didn't have time to hike, but we did enjoy the few minutes we spent there. Even on an overcast day, the lake was just lovely.

Another Hidden Gem of Yoho National Park, besides Lake O’ Hara. The glacial lake is truly emerald, surrounded by mountains, glaciers, avalanche slopes and the world-famous Burgess Shale fossil beds. The trail to Emerald Basin is considered moderate, due to some steep sections along the way. For traveler who wants to have a least strenuous hike, the trail that circuit around the lake which took about an hour, is considered rewarding.

My wife and I hiked around the lake last week and it was absolutely stunning. One of the highlights of our week in the Canadian Rockies. So many different parts of the hike but overall not difficult and about 2 hours. Caution that the trail back to the parking lot had 2-3 fallen trees we had to navigate around.

The Emerald Lake is a nice lake. But I found it not so special that it is worth to go there; in particular since the restaurant there is relative expensive and not so great.

Carparking can be an issue so try to get there early to avoid the crowds. The lake itself is beautiful and justifies its name. The food is expensive and nothing to get excited about. If you're going for a walk around the lake go around the side near the carpark as it's close to the water. If you walk around the side where the cabins are then path is well back from the water and trees block your view. The gift shop is expensive and pretentious.

Like all lakes in Canada, and especially in British Columbia and Alberta, Emerald Lake was gorgeous and lived up to it's name.It was one place where we saw an absolutely placid reflection of the mountains in the lake. You can hire canoes and there is a gift shop which serves a very nice hot chocolate.Cross the bridge and walk through the convention centre for other views of the lake.

An absolutely beautiful lake that looke stunning in the sunshine. Not so hot when the clouds cover the sky but it is so peaceful there when you get away from the car park. We were there for a couple of hours and watched as cars and RV's arrived and after half an hour left, having just walked across the bridge to the hotel and conference facilities, taken some photos and then packed up and gone onto the next attraction. Some hearty souls did dig deep into their pockets to hire a canoe or kayak (the most expensive we came across - Maligne Lake were the most reasonable). To walk around the lake completely is about four miles but there is nothing to stop you going so far around the side. We did this and after the first three hundred yards hardly met anybody else. Peace and quiet with lovely scenery - who could ask for more?

So peaceful there. The lake is so unique with its color. The resort right at the lake looks like it needs a bit more care. Checked prices once and was surprised by the looks of it.

Stopped for a couple hours while driving to Calgary and was stunned at the beauty of this lake and surrounding forest and mountains. To think I have driven this route so many times without ever stopping to enjoy this breathtaking beauty!Did a couple of short hikes and spent some time by the lake just admiring the view. Many of the visitors felt just as impressed as I. There was a cafe by the lake and would have been a perfect place for a drink or bite but I didn't go there. There are some kayaks for rent as well.If you have the time to make a stop, this is a must stop location while travelling the Trans Canada.
