Great Board walk and local restaurants along the Quay area. A great outing on a nice sunny day. There is also a local market.

The Quay is smaller than some of the others in Vancouver but the location can not be beat. The boardwalk is wonderful for strolling and stopping to sit and watch the river traffic. Decent places to eat to suit every budget.

I loved the boardwalk, the history of the Fraser and cultural items, the views of the river, and mountains, and people. How about a few fantastic food and beverage places? New West has the Quay!

While people think of 'The Quay' as the River Market and Fraser River Discovery Centre, there is much more to this city's boardwalk and esplanade. Including a children's playground with a rising submarine from Expo '86 before walking under the railroad bridge to travel further west 'along the Quay' as the locals call it. Over a dozen high and low-rise condominiums and co-ops are located in this neighbourhood, known as Quayside, where residents have spectacular views of the Fraser River. Various river traffic can be seen including tug boats which ply up and down the Fraser. The esplanade is actually a city maintained park where hanging flower baskets are in full bloom during the summer. This 'river front door' is popular for local and out of town strollers, bicyclists, runners, families, and dog walkers. The winter, spring, and late fall sunsets are breathtaking.

Westminster Quay has gone through it's periods of economic challenge... but it is still the nicest place to go in New Westminster for a walk along the river! Beautiful views, interesting history... and there's a great gelato place inside the Quay when you want a rest and refreshing snack!!

If you’re in New Westminster (commonly known as “New West”), especially on a nice day, then a walk along the Quay is a must. Built along the “Mighty Fraser,” you can see all the sights associated with a working river. These include a fleet of tug boats pulling everything from logs to enormous barges. Also, you can often catch a glimpse of seals and the salmon (which can be seen jumping) they hunt. The city takes great pride and great care in the gardens that line the boardwalk and even in winter they are lovely to see. There is a presentation center which offers a historical view of New West and the Mighty Fraser River, as well as interactive educational activities for all ages. At the east end of the boardwalk, there is the award winning Pier Park with a playground, snack bar, and even the newly added Urban Beach where you can relax on a hammock or play a game of volleyball. Finally, the Quay River Market is definitely worth a visit. There you can do some shopping, get coffee, have a snack or a more substantial meal at any of its many restaurants.

So happy to see the Quay becoming more developed. Seems to have something for everyone. Even during the week the Quay is alive with people enjoying the company of others. Can't wait to see how many more improvements will be made.

They have kid parks which is perfect. They also have. Basketball courts and volleyball courts when the sun is out and anyone can come and play! The walk is lovely and you could walk for hours! Grab a delicious ice cream on your way out or some tasty food for the vendors there :)

nice example of the new and improved river front, improvement of this area from urban decay to a place of scenic beauty and charm

I came to this place many years ago and they have plenty of nice space to come inside and eat, watch the nice view outside. They also have the casino in there so come today and check it out!

Very comfortable, wonderful service, warm and friendly. Loved the seating for our group and the fireplace. Enjoyed the happy hour food and drinks. Did not stay for dinner as quite expensive. 5 star service and environment. Worth another visit.

The New Westminister Quay is an awesome place to hang out. It has a boardwalk, that goes on for km's. You can shop and eat. They also have playgrounds and benches. Its a fun place to just hang out, watch the sunset.

I live right down the waterfront from the quay and really enjoy all it has to offer. Small restaurants, tea place and cafe, plus a great grocery store (Donald's Market) and a circus school, what more could you ask for? Oh yeah, soap making classes, cooking classes from Wild Rice and a music school for kids. The boardwalk extends a long way along the waterfront and there is a new park at the end, complete with beach chairs, beach volleyball and hammocks. Check it out and have an open mind!

Fantastic food, owners really making an effort to source locally. Lots of local initiatives and fantastic food! Pulled pork, brisket and biscuits with bacon butter (though very difficult to get, only had it twice in 12 visits) are all worth trying. Their beans are also fantastic.

To bad ....this is a nice location and could be a thriving centre. There are a couple restaurants which are ok but not much to bring a person down to hang out or shop. There is a nice promenade walk along the river front but the Quay itself could use some interesting shops it seems pretty dead.
