Really enjoyed the samples of goat cheese they had on offer. But what was more surprising was the goat ice cream they had. That was really neat!
It was very interesting to see how the goat cheese is made. After the self-guided tour there are samples available and they are all delicious. After we bought some cheese we sat in the lovely garden and ate some fresh bread, crackers and goat cheese. It was a great experience. Will definitely go back.
My kids loved the goats..watching..petting..feeding. You can walk around the outside of the building and view as well as read about the cheese making steps. The samples are delicious. If you can't find a cheese you like then you just don't like cheese. My favorite was the herb (their best seller). I would go back & yes you should have a visit.
Nice viewing windows for the full production facilities. Helpful staff at the shop and lots of samples. Even a spot to pet goats! They sell crackers, jams and olives too, so you can pick up a whole picnic here.
Fantastic, artistic, delicious, and very unique. Worth the trip. They have a tasting counter -- You have never had goat cheese like this.
We already knew we loved their cheeses having enjoyed them in Victoria at the Market at the Hudson. Having decided to stop there during a visit to SSI, we thoroughly enjoyed seeing how the cheese is made and observed the great quality of care the animals they husband are tended with. Tasted a few new things in their shop and walked away happy with some snacks for later.
Easy to get to from our cabin. Nice scenery and worth the visit. We liked the viewing windows to see how the cheese was made. You can sample the variety of cheese to see what you like best. Worth the visit.
It's worth a visit and I loved being able to sample the different cheeses, with spreads and olives. Lovely. The goats are delightful and so fun to visit. I was lucky enough to see brand new kids, less than a day old.
We always take folks who are visiting on SSI to The Salt Spring Island Cheese Company - free tastings of all their cheeses, olives, jams and self guided tour of cheese making, including chickens and goats. Beautiful grounds, garden and landscaping. Worth stopping in.
We went and watched the cheese being made and then went to the shop. Bought nearly one of everything.
A huge selection of soft cheeses, plus olives and other delicacies for our next cocktail party. Very helpful and polite staff. A treat for your tastebuds.
Love this place... great cheese - my personal fave is the goat cheese with chili - but peppercorn is also fantastic and so are all the other items including feta and olives too! This is a must see/visit if you are coming to Salt Spring Island... we're lucky as we live here and can pop in anytime.
What a gorgeous place this is. We discovered the cheese at the Saturday market and went to his location the next day. Amazing place with rolling fields and lots of sheep. Immaculate cheese making factory that produce incredible flavours. A must see and taste. A little pricey but that's the cost of cheese on salt spring.
It was by chance and a sustained period of sunshine that we found ourselves on Salt Spring. Had been to Moonstruck on a previous visit and wanted to add this location to my geofood knowledge. Anyone thinking of an escape must consider SSI and this cheeserie. We featured their goat and cow productson our platters at Sooke Harbour House and clients went weak at knees. Yes... Cheesemorgasim!
Walk around the viewing windows and see the stages their marvellous cheese goes through. Continue on to the store where all the marvellous cheeses and chutneys and marmalades can be sampled. If you buy at the farm it's $2 cheaper than at the Saturday market. They also sell balsamic which is fabulous on the goat cheese with heirloom tomatoes! Yum!
