this is a great place to see wild life. walk in nature, with great scenery. You will see hundreds of different types of duck and bird. there may also be bear sightings, to be carful. great place to spend a few hours.
Great place to spend an afternoon strolling through the trails around the lake. Great place to interact with and view many of the local birds.
If you love birds, tree frogs and other wildlife this is the place to see it. The trail meanders around the entire lake. At times you are entirely in the forest at other times you're by the lake. You can stop at the nature center (in the summertime) or go to the viewing tower and enjoy the great view of the lake and marsh area. Shorebird, raptors, ducks, hummingbirds........it's got it all.
If you're looking for a mainly traffic free bike ride where you can get the kids out (or just go alone for some solitude) then you'll enjoy this ride up the Central Valley Greenway .Park the car or ride to Trout Lake in Vancouver ( It's at East 13th and Lakewood)Head north up Lakewood until you hit the bike lane just past the skytrain bridge and then turn right. Then you just follow the path under the skytrain until you come to Gilmore. At Gilmore ( just past the Home Depot,) you take a sharp right across the railway tracks and then left across the crosswalk at Still Creek. Follow the greenway signs all the way to Douglas (You'll pass the Willingdon Costco on your right) and once you get to the lights at Douglas you'll have to do a little dipsy doodle to pick up the trail on the other side of the road. Once you're on that trail it's plain sailing until you come out at the Kensington Sports fields, keep on heading straight down past the fields and you'll come to a sign that points you to Burnaby Lake Rowing Club, take a left there and it will take you to a ramp that leads to the edge of the lake . Have a picnic there and take in the view of the North Shore Mountains it is a beautiful , tranquil spot.Make sure you've got water , there's washrooms at Kensington fields but none anywhere else along the route. It's about 45 mins each way and there's lots and lots of blackberry picking opportunities at this time of year. You'll certainly enjoy yourself and it's a ride you'll want to do over and overEnjoyBillC
Many trail surrounding the lake to explore. Ducks, geese, and various birds make the lake their home. Wooden platforms take you part way into the lake for a better view of wildlife. Butterfly park at the Piper street entrance is worth seeing too.
We were told this was a hour walk but even being fast walkers this took quite awhile. It was a easy walk on a well groomed trail. Not much scenery to look at but pleasant enough. Worth a stroll.
Easy on your knees and very safe during the day because lots of people walk and jog here. Lots of birds and diverse vegetation to look at as you stroll or jog around the lake. Plenty of parking and multiple entry points.
You can easily spend a couple of hours walking through the woods around Burnaby Lake. It's so peaceful and quite, with such fresh, clean air. What a treasure to have in the middle of the city.
Beautiful nature's paradise for your walk that are leisurely or routine workout. You will love the different species of birds that you find in this park. There is a trail for horse riding too. One of the areas along the trail is where you will find tons of bird houses. This is nature lover's paradise.
The baby geese and ducklings will be around soon. A wonderful time for wonder. A great place to walk and to watch.
A great park with nice walking trails makes it really good for everyone. Lots of wildlife including birds, turtles & more. Lots of trees & photo opportunities here. Close by to the Burnaby RV park it's perfect if you are only staying a night or 2 to enjoy the surrounding area.
