This park is located on the Sechelt Inlet and has easy access from the parking lot. At the present time there is no fee for parking or park use. The beach is sandy with a roped off area for swimming. Excellent spot for kayak launching but requires carrying the kayaks a short distance. The park gets its name as porpoise are often seen in the Inlet. Water is normally calm as there is no open ocean to create surf. A peaceful and quiet park well worth a visit.
This Provincial Camp site is one of the best you can find in British Columbia. We have stayed here many times and never been disappointed. Clean, well cared for, lots of hot water and most importantly friendly park people. The way this park is looked after is truly a tribute to the entire Sunshine Coast. Well done to the park manager and her staff.
great sandy beach, playground, nice roomy campground sites, nice washrooms. Grassy and shady areas. Salmon spawning stream nearby.
Ahh the green, the trees, the ferns and salmon spawning... the sound of eagles and lapping waves on sand... very Zen!
We were there during sunset, and it was magical. Seeing that across the water, over the mountains, with all this wildlife around, this was really beautiful. We didn't stay for long, but the park looks overall really well maintained. It is accessible for strollers (although it better be a 3-wheeled mountain stroller).
This is a great park for families. Communal fire pits add to the entertainment with good old fashion social around the fire. Beach is fun, and most campers are quiet, not the rowdy party types.
Easy access , plenty of space, beautiful beach, safe, picnic area, nice, easy trails, gorgeous view of the Bay, sheltered , well kept.
There was nobody else there on a Sunday morning in October, nice and clear, with views of the channel and mountains all around. The park is well-kept, clean looking, and has a nice sandy beach to walk on. Lots of picnic tables and a little playground for kids. Our visit was brief, but so peaceful!
I spent three nights with my family and we loved it. So nice and relaxing and quiet! The beach is wonderful and just a few steps away from the camp sites, there are no fire rings on every site, but there is a "community" fire pit where you can meet new people and make s'mores. There are showers - which are amazing when you wake up to 6 degree mornings. And a pleasant surprise - a park for the kids! Loved everything about this Provincial Park!
Every time I have been to this park I have found it to be quite a family affair... Easy to enjoy and not far from Sechelt town centre.
This was our first time camping at Porpoise Bay Provincial Park. It was a very clean and quiet campground. There are many amenities and a lovely beach. We appreciated the showers on the beach to rinse the ocean water off our kayaks. We would definitely come back here!
It was the 3rd day of our sunshine coast travel after two days' hikes, so that this is a perfect place for us to lay back and enjoy the sunshine and soft wind. We like the peaceful beach and clear water in front of us. I had tried SUP stand paddle in the shallow water in the afternoon that day even though I had never paddled before. Rental company was nice and they told me a simple notes and I stood up and paddled forward. I just would remind any new paddling triers, that if you had no any experience for stand up paddle, be careful with the sharp stone and shell underneath this shallow water, because a newer is easier to fall down the water and may get hurt by the sharp shell -- unfortunately I did get hurt at my last minute fall down to the water, my feet bottom get several lines of scratches and they hurt. Next time I should be much more carefully when I drop into such shallow water with bunch of sharp shells and stones. However, this does not affect my nice memory for this beautiful beach park, will come again next time when I travel to sunshine coast.
Lots of life at this beach for the little ones to explore. Check out Angus Creek if you go. Beautiful walk
a nice small sandy beach with camping sites, but the water is super cold to swim - for me. There are some nice short walking path around the beach and the camp site area.
The park is a great place to spend a day. It's not overly busy and has a great sandy beach and good swimming area.
