I you want a great experience go to the symphony and discover it is more than classical. There are great shows for everyone.
The concert hall and performances are first class. Lots of nearby restaurants for pre-concert dining.
Season holder for 30 plus year in all and love the symphony The symphony plays ever kind of music out there and are world famous. I highly recommend people enjoy it.
We went to the season opener in the Landmark Homes Masters series, Glory of the Organ. Wonderful first half of classical music, featuring mostly strings. Brass, drums, percussion and harpist joined for the second half. It was a delight to see and hear Paul Jacobs, world renowned organist play. From our seats in the Orchestra section, we could see his feet dancing, and hands manipulating all the buttons and keys. The organ music was reorganized to include the symphony and it was very good.
We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful symphony in this City. They offer a great variety of music -- giving us enjoyable evenings and afternoons.
The Edmonton Symphony is world class. Symphony in the Park is one of my favourite events. I prefer the lighter classics and Robbins pop series. They perform at the winspear which is a world class performing arts center.
Public performances & accessibility - nice! Just shows you that a large concert hall isn't necessary.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgPeegnV_48
We probably picked the wrong day, as there was a Gaelic thing going on, everything was packed and huge queues to get in, parking was miles away. The features are very spread out, the Tram is the best way to get around. The whole place a bit over rated.
The ESO plays in the Winspear Centre, one of North America's premier concert halls. The main conductor, William Eddins, has built a huge following with his enthusiasm, talent and fireside chats with the audience. The program is broad, with something for everyone, and guest artists and conductors are drawn from the broader global community of musicians and performers. A very special evening for those who love music.
If you need some great entertainment while visiting ourt fine city. the ESO is fantastic!! Always great. Never a bad show.
I always go to a great many performances (most of the seasons) of the ESO. They are consistent and talented, however the performers always look morose and don't seem to be that fond of their charismatic conductor William Eddins, who is always the best part of the evening due to his humour and enthusiasm. Current concertmaster Uchida is extraordinary. But because of the attitude of the players I'm always left feeling a little depressed...
This is a very good group of players, who are currently under the direction of Bill Eddins, His tenure is drawing to a close and so a new conductor will be chosen soon. ESO has a great reputation and definitely gets the job done!
We really enjoy the performances we attend. There is lots of variety and we have always found it uplifting! In the past our children have always enjoyed the Symphony for Kids performances and now our grandchildren are enjoying them.
Had an amazing time watching this with my wife. Being surrounded by adults and children alike, this was a surreal experience shared among many. I was fortunate enough to watch the production of 'die fledermaus' a week prior. We're looking into season tickets as a result. Thank you ESO
One of the better places to go in Edmonton, the Winspear is an exceellent concert hall with a rich flavor of different music. We went to Schererazade, excellent performance!
