Great huge parc in the City. For shows, outdoor sports; skiing, jogging, cycling, soccer, crossfit, football, ... close to the National Arts Museum.
My Fiancé and I had a fantastic (and free, save a small voluntary donation) time cross country skiing the trails. Perfect moment: skiing down a straight-a-way with a slight decline, old quebec view ahead and the sound and image of ships breaking through the ice on the Saint Lawrence; could not be more perfect.
We went cross country skiing across the Plains on a cold Saturday and had an amazing experience. This is a highlight and the views and quality of the groomed trails makes this an outstanding and memorable activity. You'll really come away with an appreciation of the activities that make bearing the cold winters worthwhile.
Enjoyed cross country skiing the Plains of Abraham and watching the ice skaters at the outdoor rink. Great place to ski!
If you're not a history buff, this is a nice green space in old Quebec. The plains are unsheltered, so heed the warnings and dress appropriately. In the winter, you're going to need all of the winter gear you can find to enjoy yourself here. In the summer it can still be quite blustery. For those who are interested in the history of the place, there are good explanatory signs along the way.
I have visited the Plains of Abraham during the day, at night, for a festival and for a picnic. It is fantastic in all settings and definitely worth a visit. Also worth exploring the history of the place as quite impressive
Go during Carnival - a truly amazing sight to behold. So much to see and do, something for everyone. Surrounded by history at every turn. A must see!
No matter what the season, there's always something going on ... In winter, apart from le carnaval, there are activities for the family as well as snowshoeing, cross country skiing etc. in the summer, apart from the concerts with well known stars (Paul McCartney, and ACDC this summer), we mustn't forget the simple beauty of the Plains. And, it's within a few steps of our distinguished fine arts museum. The Plains are a fabulous combo of history, past and present!
We visited this area for the Winter Festival which was an entertaining experience for first time travellers.
A visit to The Plains of Abraham brings you to a crossroads of history. You get to explore The Citadelle, the great walls of the city here, and a view of Parliament. We also got to enjoy so many of the Winter Carnival events here as well. The snow and ice sculptures, ice slides, food, drink and vending.
He was the farmer who used the "Plains" out side the Citadel as a grazing pasture for sheep. We most recently saw the Plains as the setting for the Quebec Winter Carnival. That alone gets numerous stars, but the gem is the winter cross country skiing over miles or open parkland. And it free.
The Plains of Abraham has got major historical significance for Quebec but it really was my haven whilst I was here. Much of my spare time was spent traipsing around the manicured lawns and walking around the awesome Lawrence river. I really enjoyed the peace and quietness around here.
walking on the plane in any season is wonderful you have the citadelle the walls la porte st-louis the parliement on the other side of the beautiful grande-allée fantastic
Very beautiful and big park. You can walk and enjoy a great scenery ! This is an important place for the city.
this an open space right next to the citadelle. its beautiful and has a lot of space to play around, specially during winter time when there is a lot of snow.
