What a surprise this place was, & a massive asset to New Plymouth. The staff were great to talk to & the variety of animals was great too. The huge playground had a variety of activities, so all ages were catered for. A bonus to have the friendly coffee lady there too.
I loved this little zoo, even though there aren't a plethora of critters this doesn't detract from the enjoyment. It's a well cared for and I'm sure well loved location. I would visit regularly if I was local.
This place is great for the kids. Definitely going to revisit with the grandchildren. Plenty of room to picnic and the animals were well looked after.
Can't think I have ever seen such a well cared for zoo. You could have swum in the otter pool. All the animals were lively too which I always think it shows their well being . We loved it . Staff were friendly too and interested. Free too !
It's not the first time we've been to this little zoo - the kids love it (as do we!). It's just a snippet of what you'd see at a standard zoo but it's beautifully kept and it has a lovely aviary, various monkeys, merkats, reptiles and some general farm animals. Nice for a wander around and you can purchase a drink or snack whilst there and the kids can have a play on the playground too. Handy with parking at the gate and adjoins Pukekura Park.
Great place for young and old. The viewing platforms are child friendly. Tables, rubbish bins and plenty of grass for picnics. Fully fenced for your little ones. Play ground is there for various aged children. Best of all it is FREE :)
This was free and called a zoo but there were very few animalsAnd I wouldn't make the effort to go unless you were at the Brooklands Bowl and had children. It might be fun for children as they had a nice playground.
Nice little zoo for the little ones & next door to Pukekura park for great walks for the bigger ones. & now with the addition of mobile cafe for cuppa breaks, I love the woven elephant family made of willow hope it'll be permanent display.
Given this is free to attend it is a great asset to the city, we attended as a family group and there was something for young and old. There were a couple of exhibits being refurbished which may have been better done after the holiday break. easy parking and good clean facilitied
It is a small zoo with a small selection of farm and exotic animals but given that admission is by donation one can't complain. It would be a great place to take kids.
The zoo was not very impressive (the animals are limited) but the playground was great. And don't forget to meet Charlie the parrot, he's so fun!
Had a pleasant visit to this very small free zoo but didn't spend long as there wasn't much for older children there. Would be best enjoyed by families with very small children.
I don't know how anyone can fault this beautiful family friendly zoo.The park is always clean, bright and active and now even has a coffee shop!!As a mum I think it's a fabulous place to go with children. Its so nice to have a clean and child friendly place to go where your child can run about and use their imaginations at the same time as learning. There's a big play park in the middle and the best part is its always free to visit! Where else has that to offer? It's a lovely place to visit friends, walk to for an outing or host a birthday/picnic as it caters for most ages. I have had fond memories of this zoo since being a little girl and would recommend it to anyone.
Like visiting this place as kids have fun in here.Neat playground for kids.well maintained zoo and the garden .It's free too.
Free access and lovely animals. Great way to spend a bit of time in the lovely New Plymouth gardens.
