A little oasis in the middle of busy city. Shore right across the busy street. It had benches and trees. Unfortunately, the only free benches were in the sun.
This is right on their waterfront and has been well done. A great place to relax, while away the day. Maybe get a sandwich and picnic?
Everything in Tahiti is unique, and so are the flowers. In this park you will discover some extraordinary flowers and can read about it too. Right across the beach this place is a must visit if you are in Tahiti and want to do some self exploring.
This park is very well maintained. The local families are in this park every evening letting the children run and play.
This park is a beautiful oasis in the middle of Papeete. On weekends it hosts crafts vendors with some very good quality product for sale. They make their display tents very attractive with native flowers and vegetation.
A relatively quiet haven in the middle of the town. A few interesting sculptures and memorials to while away the time.
This park is pretty much in the middle of town so if you happen to be walking by, then stop in and walk through it. The gardens are beautiful, it's right on the ocean and it seems to be the favorite place for local families to congregate. It's not a 'must see' park, but if you're in the neighborhood, why not?
This was between our B&B and downtown, so we walked through it several times, and even stopped to rest and enjoy the environs. Locals seem to congregate here as well, but not a site you need to go out of your way to find.
Bougainville Park is conveniently located on the waterfront a short distance from the cruise ship terminal. It was a nice place to take a rest after walking past all of the shops. There are cannons at the park entrance. Many of the locals eat their lunch in the park. There were also a couple of chess matches being played.
Beautiful and historic park named after Admiral Bougainville who gave his name to the climbing shrub with large purple-red bracts, The park is a lovely place to wander after the bustle of the town. Don’t miss the cannons at the exit of the park and the pond full of fish. Well worth a visit.
Quite difficult to find the right entrance and clearly an afterthought. however once inside the ambience is relaxed and cool. Smaller than I expected but nice enough.
Right by the main post office building, this tiny park offers 4/5 tables to sit down and sip a drink or eat your "casse croute". That is if you find spot during lunch time!
Beside the main post office in Papeete is the pleasant little Bougainville Park. Named after the explorer who claimed Tahiti for the French in 1771. There is a bust of him on the riverside entrance to the park. On either side are two cannons from the World War 1 warship Zélée. You will also find a childrens play area, colourful flower beds, numerous park benches and small pond.
