We wanted to stay near port augusta on our drive north from adelaide to coober pedy. Port augusta is a bit of a dive so we headed to argadelles just thirty min outside of quorn. It's surrounded by hills, gorges and has plenty of wildlife inc yellow footed rock wallabies.Cabins are comfortable. A/c, heater, shower, hot water & a basic kitchen.Highly recommended
This is our second trip and it will not be our last. The accommodation is spotless, everything works and you feel as if the it's all been arranged just for you.The historical machinery and artifacts are displayed on gravel plinths a lesson that should be copied by the pioneers park in Quorn where weeds grow up around their displays. We drove a few of the easier tracks and simply soaked up the scenery and wildlife. At dusk we stoked up the open fire outside and relaxed ........ wonderful.
We have stayed at the Argadells a few times now and I thought it was about time I wrote a review. This place is special. The privately owned and managed wilderness covers 32 square kilometers of mountain ranges, gorges, valleys and four wheel driving trails. We have stayed here every year for the last 4 years and have thoroughly enjoyed the rare beauty and tranquil locations. The Argadells has caravan accommodation, complete with access to showers, modern toilets and laundry in the main accommodation and camp grounds for those who want to rough it. The managers are very friendly and keep the roads well maintained and go out of their way to make sure you have wood and that your stay is enjoyable. Yes, it costs you to camp and drive on their property (if you are a serious four wheel drive it is a must), but it is well worth it. One of the main attractions are the once-rare Yellow Footed Rock Wallabies, which you will see at dawn and dusk, roaming the hills and valleys. There is also bird life aplenty here, including the cute Apostle Birds, who frequent camp sites. There are walks, creeks, gorges, wildflowers, pines, cliffs, caves and many places to explore. In short, this is stunning wilderness for everyone.
