We called into George Town visitor centre and were warmly wecolmed by Shirley who went out of way to assist us with helpful advice on the local area. We purchased a triple pass to the Watch house, Base n Flinders centre and Low Head maritime museum. We also got some chilli relish and lavender tea. Make sure you call in there.
How disappointing to hear about N2T2's experience when visiting our beautiful township of George Town recently. Unfortunately wherever you visit, at times, behaviour of other people who may be in the area, can dampen your trip. Please be assured, that this is not the 'norm' for our region or from the people who visit us. Our region is abundant with great hospitality, award winning vineyards, amazing providore, renowned history and wonderful attractions which add to the reason why many visitors return to our area. We look forward to welcoming visitors from across the globe to our beautiful township within the heart of Provincial Tamar.
The staff were very helpful and I also purchased some great Lavender products for gifts. Was glad I had done so, as a few days later we visited Bridestow lavender Farm and the same products were slightly more expensive.
We stopped off here and we were given heaps of ideas for the area. The volunteers were great, we had a wonderful visit thanks to them.
Had a lovely chat with locals that shared information not on the beaten track such as the local seafood place and the wood carvings in the area. Personalized service. Thank you
Volunteers provided useful details relating to road conditions and sights along the way to Scamander
... The ladies at the George Town visitor centre are very helpful and showed is some good spots.........
Up the hill, down the beach and around the coast. The ladies were very helpful and accommodating with a great sense of humour. Pleasurable and knowledgable visit.
What a lovely, friendly, most helpful staff . We got great advice on the things to do around the area and tips on what passes to buy best, just exactly what you picture a perfect information centre should be, great model, very patient and nothing is too much trouble. Keep up the good work !
Having just arrived in the area, I wanted to find out what to see and do. The lovely lady who helped me took a few moments to find out what I might like and then gave me some great ideas. Make sure you get the Heritage Trail map. Thank you for making me feel so welcome.
The lady in the information centre was also the one who ran the penguin tour, she was extremely helpful and good with her advice. Thanks very much for great service
We visited the Information Centre as part of our holiday in Tasmania recently. We found most of the Information Centre's very helpful and George Town was no exception. Make sure you call in if you are new to the area - you won't be disappointed.
They gave us all the information we wanted, including directions and various sites of interest. Very friendly and resourceful. They even told us stories of bygone days. That's what we call country hospitality.
We were on our way to Launceston and did not plan or book anything in advance. They helped us good and thanks to them we had a plan and a room for the night. They also gave us tips what to do and also what not to do and see
A professional, friendly bunch of people here. Good also for the odd local gift.
