Visited Crawford house a while back. It's a Museum bulit into an historic house from the area. When we visited there were a number of different exhibitions on of varying themes, all with relevance to the surrounding area. Won't take you long to get through the place but the exhibitions were interesting, as is the house it's self which is setup in the style of it's era with lots of authentic fittings/furniture etc.If you wish to learn anything about the history of the Alstonville Plateau area this place is certainly a worthwhile stop. It's right in the middle of town, easy to get to, lots of parking and friendly staff working there.
We found this quaint little Federation house museum while we were just driving around. It was the original settler's home on a farm, but now sits in a small village. It was never grand, but is a good example of Australian country life from 1900 to the 1960's inside. The local Historical Society displays all sorts of household items from the past that reminded us of out childhood homes. We found it a fascinating visit for a very reasonable entry fee, with a volunteer guide that brought things to life. As it happened we were also able to buy a book that had information about my local family connection. So we'd recommend anyone who has an hour or so to spare to visit.
