snowy vineyard and microbrewery

This was our second visit to this winery, the first many years ago under different owners when the tasting bar was down by the river. We were disappointed as this owner just didn't show any interest or passion for his business. The wines are not as good as they were years ago and the new venue is not as good as sipping a wine and enjoying the river view. No nibblies offered between tastings and to be honest the set up just didn't have any class and any inviting feel as before. Also, there was a neighbour's dog hanging around that caused an injury to our little dog - the owner just didn't care. We won't be visiting here again too soon.

16km out of town but a lovely dirt track drive. Coming back it didn't seem that far. Huge grassed area for kids, nice schnapps that is different from Wild Brumby. Bought some pineapple ones. Had a platter which as fantastic value also. Nice wind down.

We ventured out to the Winery & Microbrewery on a Saturday afternoon of the Australia Day long weekend. My mother had come to visit from Melbourne so we thought this would be a great place to take her... How very wrong we were. Firstly, it took over 15 minutes for our menus to be brought to us by the one waitress on duty who was clearly in over her head. The meals took well over an hour to get to us and that was just the garlic bread! The mains were then another wait and when they did arrive it just kept going downhill. The steak I ordered for $28 was apparently a scotch fillet.. It was no more than 170g! I requested Medium and it came out well done to the extreme. My mother ordered the salmon which came out raw. My wife's salmon on the other hand was fine, so not all was bad. When we sent the salmon back to be cooked properly we waited another 30 minutes and it had still not returned. So we requested to cancel the meal and asked for the bill. Other issues from the day were that you couldn't get to the bar because people (who I suspect were friends of the Barman) had created a semi circle in front of the bar with stools and blocked it off for the rest. The lady who was on duty was very apologetic but unfortunately the damage had been done. In our experience it is not worth the drive out there for the price we paid and experience we had. There is a perfectly good pub in Berridale that does a $15 Sunday roast. Hold out for that instead.

We visited back in August with the extended family - Young kids, parents and grandparents. The kids loved the animals and playing on the lawn. The parents LOVED the quality beer and the food was a real surprise - It was delicious! We will be back!

This place is a little off the beaten track but it is worth a visit. They make some lovely wines including a very nice ice wine. There is a restaurant which has nice decor and a lovely verandah. The food is quite good (although my steak was not as per my request). I would recommend it and would give it another go next time I'm in the area.

Great place for all the family. We went as a group of 6 adults and 4 small children. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the beer tasting at the bar... the girls chose to enjoy their wine under the umbrella on the outdoor setting. ... and the 'kids ran wild' on the grassed area with 'Bella' the resident kelpie and various farm animals. For a more intimate dining experience, choose one of the tables under the pergola area. Food was good, even a gluten free option! Worth the bumpy ride from Berridale to experience this friendly vineyard and microbrewery.

We loved the whole team... 24 of us for a beer tasting and lunch. The trout was rated as being the best that we had ever tasted... Look these guys up for a great time and great food.

This is a proper farm - very different to some wineries we have visited - so don't come expecting it to be a highly polished mass producer. That said, we had a wonderful time here and did the beer tasting, which was lots of fun for my husband who has just started home brewing. The staff were lots of fun and very knowledgeable and the food was very gourmet - we were surprised given the location, but it was absolutely lovely. They had a lot of local produce on hand to buy and to eat and we had a great time there.

I went on a day trip to this microbrewery/winery earlier this year in April courtesy of a $75 deal from LivingSocial. Supposedly it was worth $225. To be honest I felt a bit ripped off, partly due to the cost but more so in terms of what I could have been doing with my time. I went via a shuttle bus which departs from the Jolimont Centre in Canberra. The driver was a friendly chap and whilst the mini-van was a bit basic, and the ride bumpy, the drive there was pleasent enough.The winery itself was a bit disappointing. We were welcomed by the host and a nibbles tray was brought out to snack on while we tasted the beers – the nibbles were basic but nice.The beer tasting wasn't very well organised - I only got to taste 3 beers whereas others in the group reported getting up to 6. I made the mistake of stepping outside and into the next room to see what else the estate had to offer – the trick is don’t leave the room I guess.My feeling was that they were still finding their feet in terms of how to host a group – the tour of the microbrewery seemed almost like an after-thought and to be honest didn't seem to me to be much more impressive than if you had a neighbour with a homebrew setuip in their garage. There was no tour of the winery component of the operation.The beers I tasted were good – very good in fact – however I did not much care for the wines or selection of flavoured schnapps which were offered up - they all tasted to me on the weak side, almost as though they had been watered down. The sparkling Chardonnay was probably the best of the bunch and the chilli wine (which is in fact made in Eden). There were no red wines.The deal included a one-course lunch – I chose a fillet steak which was average at best, the cut of meat was very gristly and – with the vegetables – no better than a meal I would cook at home in a hurry. I chose to eat a dessert which cost extra ($12) and was very good. The al-fresco eating area is lovely however the overall experience suffered due to the quality of the main course.There is a small grassed area but really not much else to do while waiting for the mini-bus to depart. An animal farm consists of some guinea pigs, chickens, and a real pig. There is a peacock and neighbourhood cat with David Bowie eyes also to keep you company.I think this is a place best visited by beer drinkers and as a self-drive so that you can sample the beers, have a quick look around - stay if it takes your fancy or move on if it doesn't.

We eat here every few months when we visit the Snowies and lunch on our most recent visit was up to the usual excellent standard. The prawn twisters are my favourite and when we are with a few people we get one of every dessert and rotate them around the table because they are all always really tasty.Paul makes a really fabulous range of beers and the set of 6 beer tasters with a schooner of your favourite at the end (all for ten bucks) is a must for any serious (or casual) beer drinker. The wines are pretty good too - especially the sticky, noble rot.The recent addition to the restaurant, Susie, is delightful and cooks a pretty mean lunch. A really great place for a long, boozy lunch.Highly recommended and well worth the detour to visit, if only for the tastings (though we'd alway have the lunch too).Great spot for younger kids with a nice outdoor area and a few farm animals to get up close to.

My friend and I booked our bus trip with excitement and after a serious misunderstanding with the bus driver collecting us from Canberra we headed off in this little blue bus similar to a combi van to the Snowy Vineyard and Microbrewery.After a short loo stop at Cooma we arrived and David our host welcomed us with some tastings from the tap.there was only six of us for lunch and we were treated like VIPs and our day ended around 5pm we loaded the little blue bus up with beers wine schnapps and us.we had a funtastic day.the negative was the bus driver didn't announce his arrival at the Jolimont Centre, he didn't have any distinctive shirt or even a sign to say what or who or where he was going and we weren't expecting a little blue bus....

It was an adventure getting here along dirt roads in great upland countryside. We went to visit Australia's highest vineyard and to have a light lunch and were not disappointed. Very friendly welcome on a busy day over the Easter weekend in a place full of character. The wines were interesting, due to the cool climate grapes, and of good quality. The simple lunch menu was well executed, but the main delight was the charm of the surroundings and amiable service from I guess mainly family members.Well worth a detour.

This attraction is a little off the beaten track but once you get there it is relaxing, peaceful and charming. The beers and wines (tasting) are lovely too and there is no pressure to buy more. Lunch was lovely as well. They run a bus tour service which would be ideal to ensure you can enjoy the wine and beer tasting and a drink over a nice relaxed lunch without driving. We plan to return using this facility.

I've read these reviews and am amazed??? These people obviously didnt stay in the cottage. Unless I am the most unluckiest person on Earth I had the worst time here. Fair enough, I understand this is a cottage in the country but I have stayed in others that were cleaned at least. We stayed here around new years last year and it was terrible. There was dust everywhere, I actually thought it would be safer sleeping in the car. Bed sheets looked like they hadn't been washed and the toilets wern't clean at all. The guy there didnt seem to be interested, and if anything I got the idea we were a burden to him. The only reason I didnt demand a refund is because my Wife talked me out of it (too late to find an alternative) and just wanted to "get it over with" and leave. A real shame as it has potential to be a nice place if they ever bothered to clean main things like the toilets, fridge, oven and bed sheets.

Fantastic service, really friendly and open about their wines. Just did the tasting of their wines, loved them. I'll be back for lunch and to taste their schnapps. Beautiful property to make a day of it.
