A great day out! The guides were happy, helpful and informative. The fruit was amazing. The rides were great fun. The views spectacular. The ambience was so peaceful we left feeling totally refreshed. Thanks guys, we'll come again.

My wife and I visited the tropical fruit world with my mother during a visit to the Tweed Coast. I remember it as the Avocado world. It is well laid out but a little expensive. We chose not to do the full tour, but had afternoon tea in the cafe and do the fruit tasting. The fruit tasting was well explained by a great presenter and there was a lot of tropical fruit I was familiar with coming from a tropical place. The different ways to prepare some fruits was good to see. The afternoon tea was ok BUT the BANANA smoothie was out of this world. The best my wife has had. The gift shop was ok , the friendly staff very helpfull wrapping sauce bottles in bubble wrap and explaining different products or opinions. Well worth a trip I think families with little kids would enjoy the full tour. Runs on QLD time all year around even though located in NSW, just different with day light savings.

We last visited this farm on our honeymoon in 1997 when I bought a chocolate pudding fruit smoothie. This time I was looking forward to our daughters trying this exotic treat which they had heard all about, I have given up looking for it at Coles! My girls are both coeliacs so it was very disappointing to find that the ice-cream used in the smoothies was cheap & contained gluten. After a lot of fuss to what gluten free entailed, a smoothie was made without the ice-cream which didn't taste nearly as nice. They only decided to make it when I reminded the man that I was still waiting while other later customers were being served their orders. The whole experience could have been salvaged had they offered the last half cup of smoothie left in the blender. Costing I think $8 for a small cup, left us with a 'bitter taste' about the whole farm experience.

This was a great place to take the family and friends for a day out, experiencing different and exotic fruit.

Great family fun for all ages. Even though it was raining the whole time, we all enjoyed our morning visit. We will visit again.

There was an information and tasting session at the beginning where you learn interesting stuff about different types of fruits you probably haven't heard of. And you can taste them. My kids especially loved this. Then you go on a lovely tractor ride though the orchards and see so many different types of fruit trees. The jackfruit trees are amazing with their gigantic fruits. We then hopped off the tractor and got to taste bananas fresh cut off the trees and still in their bunches. Kids again loved this.We had fun smashing macadamia nuts open and tasting a really interesting black round small fruit (can't remember the name). It was even more fun because we had to pick them off the tree ourselves.There are animals to feed and pat next. The boat ride was so tranquil and relaxing. I always love this part because it is so picturesque. We were given bread to feed the birds, but there weren't many birds this time so whenever we saw one, the poor things were bombarded with bread missiles. was quite funny. My 2 year old loved this part.Disembarked and got to ride a cute train. Watch your feet. i can imagine some accidents happening here. You just have to hold on tight to the seat. There are no seatbelts, floor or sides to the train, so be careful with little kids. There is also a playground for the children to play in this area.I enjoy coming here. Bit pricey, but still fun.

We began by deciding against the tour of the property, which at $45/head sounded expensive, even if it does go for 2 hours plus. With rides on boats and mini-trains and feeding ducks and farm animals it seemed It was also aimed squarely at families with toddlers and maybe overseas tourists - and we don't fit that profile. We would have happily paid to taste and learn about some exotic fruits and a briefer tour of the orchard but unfortunately those options are not available here.So what did we do? The gift shop offered way-overpriced condiments, cosmetics, honey, herb teas etc mostly local but not always. Might have splashed out on some of the jams but at $12-13 for a small jar left the wallet in the pocket. So, nothing doing there. The menu at the cafe was uninspiring (unlike the nice outlook). Focus seemed to be more on fish n chips and burgers served up on paper plates with plastic cutlery than on tropical fruit. And, again, not cheap. We did treat ourselves to two-fruit flavoured ice creams at $6.90 a pop for a tad more than a single scoop. Save your money for the gelateria in town.The fruit barn out front presented the best opportunity for us. We picked up some nice bananas, avocados and peaches at market prices (ie reasonable value) as well as an exotic mamme sapoti. Much higher price than the other fruit of course given its exotic status but that's fair enough and what you'd expect. And it tasted good. They had a lot of interesting, novel fruits in the fruit barn, many of which we'd never heard of, and as mentioned before we would have loved to have tried them all - but aside from going on the expensive, time-consuming tour, this option wasn't available. It should be.

Had a great day and the staff were lovely. Tours were great and really well organized and informative with very helpful staff. Both my boys aged 12 and 19 had a great time. Fruit tasting was great and tried things I normally wouldn't try and even with things that are bought in supermarket , they put there own twist on it and made it even more delicious. Walked out with fruit trees of what I tried. Definitely be back. Thanks tropical fruit world

I guess if you had kids, this place would be awesome. If tropical fruit is non-existent where you come from, this place would also be awesome. But as 30-something hipsters without kids, my partner and I found this place pretty underwhelming.We went there thinking it was a farm where you could pick your own fruit, then pay for it at the end - like pretty much every other fruit farm in Australia. It's not - but that's our fault for not checking in advance, as this is clearly stated on the website. I think it would be beneficial if you could just walk around the orchid - it's not like we're inexperienced: we picked fruit on farms around Australia during breaks from uni for many years and survived, so we know what we're doing. So we took advantage off the very generous offer of FREE admission to the gift shop and café (thank god we didn't have to pay for everything!) We thought the saving grace would be the café, since we're foodies and love tropical fruit. It's not. TFW should be experts on dishes with tropical fruit, but it's all very 1980's school tuck shop. For the price of the food, I was expecting, you know, something more like you would get in a food truck in Melbourne for the same price. We got guacamole and corn chips served in cardboard on a tray from my grandmothers, which actually sounds cool, but is not. Fruit was mixed with something the equivalent of woolies icecream - pretty cheap move for the price we were paying. Gift shop pretty much full of kitschy Australiana and bits of dried fruit, and the fruit shop completely overpriced. Pull over to the side of the road to any farm with a sign on your way out of there and you'll get a better fruit at a fraction of the price, whilst supporting local farmers and getting a real farm experience. Again, my big disclaimer, this place would be awesome if you were a kid, or a tourist who has never seen tropical fruit - not cool if you wanted a more well rounded cultural/culinary/environmental experience.

Honestly the only bad thing I have to say is why I didn't come here earlier. We have been to QLD ever year for 8 years never had time to visit but this time made time and the best thing we did. We have 2 boys aged 8 and 6 and they loved this more then the theme parks. You get to taste fruit you wouldn't taste any other time. All the staff are friendly and always happy to help. I would recommend this place to everyone who wants to know more about all our wonderful fruits and great family day out without the rush. Btw go the Doggies

We were very disheartened to hear about your visit. It is certainly not the norm here (so many reviewers rave about our guides and even know them by name) and your experience did not meet the high standard we set for ourselves in caring for each and every visitor to the farm .Visitors are also very welcome to take extra time to enjoy our fauna park and Island recreation areas after completing all of the guided components of their tour. You should have been advised of this, if there was still time prior to closing? Thank you sincerely for raising this with us - it will feature in our staff briefings and our tour guides will be sure to make this information more readily available to guests in future.It is worth noting that our tour activities require a minimum of 2.5hours to complete. As we close at 4pm QLD time each day, it is recommended that guests arrive no later than 1pm in order to fully enjoy all of the tour activities included in their admission.As a guide, most people spend a good half day with us.

Today the 20th Zdravko & I decided to take a trip to Byron Bay & on our way back stop at the Tropical Fruit Farm. It was a wise decision. We had a great time. The entrance fee was $ 70 seniors. Kate our tour guide was very informative, they have 2000 varieties of fruit. We started with a tractor ride , we than stopped had banana tasting & macadamia nuts that we had to crack our selfs which was fun. After that we continued our ride to a little train which took as around a little park were we saw water lilies water dragons, birds also a carpet snake that was shedding its skin, from there we went on a boat ride, were we were given bread to feed black pacific ducks, purple swamp hens & other birds also a couple of eels, we also saw turtles,whistling ducks & other wild life. We the stopped at Old MacDonald 's Farm to feed the farm animals ( we had to by the feed ) which I enjoyed than back to the information centre were we went to the Miracle Fruit Show were we learned a bit more about different fruits from Megan and tasting them,enjoyable 2.1/2 hours. Also they have a restaurant & gift & souvenir shop & fresh produce that you can buy.

Reading thought the reviews below before writing, I guess everyone is different in their own way.When I booked at peppers I looked to see what was around and found this place. So it was on my list to do.We paid as seniors think $72.Entry gave us -Thought the Miracle Fruit Show was a bit boring, but then again after tasting just what I wanted to. We ended up buying the "Chocolate Fruit Sauce" made from the Black Sapote. Have not opened it yet !!. This was a touch cheaper to buy at this time than in the Gift Shop.The Tractor ride was enjoyable. Then on to the Train ride, which was fun.Then onto the Boat ride. Then onto feeding the animals (which itself was again boring, but if you have children or visiting from overseas, would of been better). The tours - ride took a good 2 1/2 hrs plusWe ate at the restaurant there. Both having similar burgers to that at the sea salt pub. Prices a lot cheaper. and was very nice and enjoyable.I do have many more photos that we took, but mainly all selfies enjoying ourselves..We enjoyed our day. Opens @ 10am qld time.

Hi Georgia We're really disappointed to hear that your exchange with our nursery staff was unsatisfactory. I know which staff member you would have spoken with, and assure you that his quip would have been made in good humour and with a wry smile. That same staff member is frequently complimented on his friendly and quick (if somewhat dry) sense of humour. Regardless, we sincerely apologise that you were made to feel unwelcome in our Nursery - and very glad that your Gift Shop experience was a good one.
