The experienced ride is more about riding and enjoying the time with your horse. Even though they go fast, the horses are always under control which makes the riding even more fun! The beginners ride is a bit more about experiencing the rainforest, they do informative Eco talks throughout the track about the environment and it's development. Horses and staff are so nice! I enjoyed both my rides!
We booked in with Prue for our honeymoon last month for a 2 hour ride. We were both beginners so our horses were picked to suit our experience which was good. The horses were very easy to ride, they didn't play up or run off or anything (which has happened to me in the past) Prue was really great, she took us through different parts of the rainforest at the back of her property and was very informative throughout the whole ride. We even got to take the horses to the creek for a drink which was pretty cool. We had a really great time on this trail ride, thanks Prue :)
My horse-mad 5 year old was too young for Cape Trib Horserides so we came for a ride here with Prue. She was fantastic and the horses lovely. Thanks again for a great day.
I took my two daughters (age 8 and 6) to cow bay horse rides in August 2012. After speaking with Prue, the owner, about the girls comfort level with horses and what we were trying to achieve, she recommended a perfect option for us. For very good value my girls and I enjoyed a 1 1/2 hour guided trail ride through the rainforest. Pru ensured that we were all comfortable and safe. She described the different rainforest areas as we rode. What a lovely way to see the countryside! I would highly recommend this to both riders and non-riders.
very friendly staff, make you comfortable, fun and flirtatious, gorgeous views, great way to see the beach, fun for all levels including first timers. ask for Steve, send loe from Meg x
This was a really great way to spend the morning relaxing and enjoying the sights and sounds of the Daintree. Pru was an excellent instructor for my partner's first time on a horse. We even saw a couple of dingos who tried to take on Jackie the dog - who gallantly fought them off! All and all a grea exprience.
I strongly recommend Cow Bay Horse Rides. Prue is a fantastic teacher. Keep up the good work. Anne, Rohan and Alexander.
During our holiday to Cape Tribulation, we spent an amazing afternoon horse riding at Cow Bay. Prue is a fantastic host- although neither of us had any real riding experience, she showed us how to ride and was really supportive, while also giving us the confidence and freedom to do some faster trotting. Her tours are really informative, taking us through some beautiful fan palm rainforest, and old growth forest. The tours are also really personal as Prue doesnt take more than three people at a time- and this really makes the horse riding a very special experience. And we cant forget the beautiful animals- the horses are gorgeous and gentle, and Jackie the dog is a real special character who comes along for the ride! If you're heading to Cape Tribulation, we strongly recommend Cow Bay Horse Rides as its a very special way of seeing the beautiful scenery. Thank you Prue! From Intan & Paddy
Our ride was very enjoyable, our horses sweet and cooperative, and the scenary lovely. The proprietor Prue has put a lot of heart and soul into clearing trails through this property for riders' enjoyment - a back breaking task I'm sure. It was lovely to amble through while she shared details of the area, its significance, and pointed out special floral and fauna. On our particular ride, we also waded a bit with the horses in the river, which was fun. We also found Prue to have a very accessible personality, which made it easy to ask general questions about the country altogether, which is nice because getting a chance to chat with 'locals' when traveling doesn't always come easy but its a great way to learn about a place. At the end of the ride, we were rewarded with an (azure?) king fisher flying across an open field (outside of the rainforest area). Hurray! (we also enjoyed the company of Jackie, the loveable dog, during our ride :) )
During a visit to the beautiful Cape Tribulation area, I found COW BAY HORSE RIDES the most wonderful experience. Even if one is not a 'horse rider', the quiet friendly and personal service makes it possible for virtually anyone to enjoy this activity. The gracious owner of this absolutely stunning property takes the rider through a journey of sheer beauty. Lush tropical rain forest, crystal clear creeks, fan palms, tropical wildlife.....all to be seen from the back of a horse that knows its job. This is not your average 'trail ride' at all. Being a small and personalised operation one is able to tranquilIy experience the real beauty of the Wet Tropics. I have been on various 'trail rides' around the world and this one takes the cake! COW BAY HORSE RIDES is a must do experience when visiting the wet tropics. I say, don't miss it!!
Thank you Prue for this moment, we did enjoy a lot, your horses are beautiful.
