Have you ever had a dream of finding gold?...getting rich quickly?...well here in Clunes as well as in all Victorian previous gold mining sides you can get that feeling which came from middle of 19th century. Small town build quickly that time to accomodate all searchers of gold . Now we can only have an imagination of what happened here before . Thanks for people leaving in the area who try to keep their history alive. Just go there ...not far from Ballarat...one large and short main street ...nothing?...you are wrong...all buildings are heritage and some of them restored in accordence to that time . some of them are in worse conditions but still beautiful. Around that part there are other examples of architecture belonged to the firsts gold rush in Vic like churches, council building, fire brigade shed. I slept at an old 1865 Mason Hall place which is at this stage my friend home...Many great accomodations in the area. Everything is in walking distans,The great book shops, galleries, gift shops and restaurants, specially Main hotel which is quite modest in terms of design but produce great food and nice garden for evening party..... hey!!! thatnk for firts australian explorers!!!! we have got great living here in Aussie!!!! Yahooo!!!

We stopped into Clunes while visiting the Ballarat area. Just like the museum, there are a few more old buildings to see if you like history. The museum was no longer open from what we could see, but many of the old shops are only open on the week ends.

Museums should really reflect the who past of a town my experiences in a cafe in Clunes took me back to the 1960s . Great to see shovels and spades lets get really Historical . I went to Clunes to see the place of a great Australian Bush Poet .
