This is a Vietnamese cooking school and this was my birthday present from son and his girlfriend! I was a bit nervous as even though I have a huge interest in food & wine, I'm only used to cooking at home for family. As soon as we entered any concerns I had were put to rest, they are so friendly and helpful. After all the introductions, with a class of 7, we started cooking. First up we made a dipping sauce, you choose how much flavourings and heat you want in it, after all you will be eating this afterwards! Next up the pancakes with prawns and pork, as the batter was pre-made we were given instruction on how it was made. Again really good tuition as we went along, we actually ate these there and then wrapped in a lettuce leaf, I'm surprised how good they were. Next up little dumpling/donuts, again easy enough. Mains was a marinated fish, we made the marinate for your own taste, once cooked we went outside to sit down and eat what we had made - it had all turned out really well. If you want to know anything about Vietanmese Cooking this is the place to go, excellent in every way.
Xin ChaoFabulous is a generous for us! Thank you. We look forward to have you in upcoming classes with Otao Kitchen. Happy Cooking,Ha
I did the Hanoi Classics class with my mother and we both had a great time. It was fascinating to learn the background to many ingredients and dishes that I've been enjoying in Vietnamese restaurants for years. The class was very hands on, and the dinner to finish up was fantastic.
Well worth the long wait to experience cooking class at it's best. After booking one months ago we were not let down by one bit. We had the Hanoi Classics, it was absolutely great hands-on from start to finish. Rice paper rolls was interesting dish but then my Pho was on another level of fun. The pho noodle stock was full of amazing flavours. The chef let us to season the pho and my taste buds were in heaven. Finished nicely with the lichee and fruits, it was lovely and refreshing on the palate.
The street foods of Saigon Class was fantastic! It was enjoyable and with satisfaction of producing some dishes at my Son's birthday. They loved it, especially the Vietnamese Pancake!Ha gives a good overview of "five tastes" which helped me to appreciate ingredients we were working with. It encouraged us to be bold and experimental with flavours we putting together. Most of all, it was great fun evening. Thank you.
What a terrific experience; intimate class size in a well-lit, purposefully designed teaching studio. Ha uses his experience as a classically trained French chef, combined with his love for his homeland, Hanoi, to offer brilliant classes. Fresh food and fun times, with a meal following the class to eat your creations.
