Visiting Melbourne for the first time, I've got to see sceneries which I would never imagined. We visited Yarra Valley Wineries for wine tasting and did an orbit around the Melbourne City on the way back. I was the experience of the life time. The offer shorter tours as well such as just scenic flights around Melbourne. The pilots are very well trained professionals and the helicopters are well maintained.
We booked our flights while visiting Alice Springs, at the Tourism Central Australia office, ahead of travelling to Ayres Rock. The team at the bureau were so helpful and spent as much time as we needed to select the tour that we would be most happy with.We booked 'The ultimate combined canyon experience' tour, which consisted of a light aircraft flight from Yulara airport to Kings Station, and then a helicopter flight from Kings Station to Kings Canyon. This is a 6-7 hour tour and while it sounds daunting, it was simply fantastic. We were picked up from our the Sails Hotel spot on time, by a friendly driver who took us to the airport and introduced us to our Pilot for the day. Oliver is his name and he was so professional in the way in which he conducted the safety briefing, ahead of leading us to the plane, which was a single engined Cessna.I'm not much for small airplanes, but I must admit I enjoyed every minute of the flight. Oliver was so informative and chatted the whole way, describing the sights, stories about all that we saw. he was especially helpful in predicting where the air was going to result in light 'bumps', which was very reassuring. the flight from Yulara to Kings Station takes you over many salt lakes and dessert areas. Not a road or fence in sight, just dessert colours and beautiful scenery as far as the eye can see.The landing on the airstrip at Kings Canyon was smooth and we transferred to a minibus and drove the five minutes to the station, for refreshments before walking to the helicopter. We were then introduced to Luke, who was the helicopter Pilot. As with Oliver, very friendly an chatty, which helped makes us comfortable. The safety briefing again was delivered in a professional manner, which was much appreciated. He advised that I was to sit in the front with him and mentioned that the door would removed to allow for clear sight and photographs, which i thought was just wonderful.Once up in the air, I didn't even notice the open door as the sights were so clear and my photographs were able to be set up well with no obstructions. Luke described the terrain and pointed out wild Brumbies (horses) which I could see only after he pointed them. The scenery is just fabulous and he was so considerate in setting the helicopter up just right to allow for clear photo's. No discomfort, just smooth flying and unbelievable scenery. Kings Canyon and surrounds are stunning and while you can drive the hours to view from the ground, the air view is in my opinion, so much more worthwhile. We returned after about 30-40 minutes to the station and had lunch. Oliver and Luke talked me into trying the local specialty, a "camel burger". It was delicious. The return flight was just as good as the inbound trip. We circled Kata Tjuta (The Olga's) and Uluru (Ayres Rock) Bothe are spectacular and so much more amazing that viewed from the ground. Our experience was a real positive one and we feel very confident in recommending this tour to others who are after a unique experience of a piece of Central Australia. My thanks to Oliver and Luke for being such wonderful tour hosts. Your attention to safety and comfort made my experience all the more enjoyable.
