I have been in and through Toodyay so many times before I actually looked around the Connor's Mill museum. On this occasion we drove to Toodyay with overseas guests. It was worth the trip to combine the scenery of local bushland and farm land, the charm of the Toodyay main street and the historic museum. The lady in the Visitors Centre was friendly and talkative. The mill is well set up to showcase life in the early settlement and the processes of milling wheat to flour. The ingenuity of the pieces of agricultural machinery was well displayed. You could get a sense of the harshness of life in the early days. There is a very nice souvenir shop. The entry fee is small. Worth a visit for locals and visitors alike.
Stopped here to get some local information whilst on a day trip from Perth. The lady at the desk was very helpful and provided some accurate instructions for reaching the Newcastle Gaol Museum. Would have liked to stay for longer but time didn't permit.
Our first stop wherever we go is the local information centre and this place has all the info you need. The lady behind the counter was extremely friendly and helpful.
A group of us travelled on the TRANSWA train to Toodyay from Perth, returning the same day. An hours journey from Perth, we enjoyed the opportunity to relax in comfort, travelling through the Avon Valley. The Toodyay Visitor Centre is a gem to visit. All the information one could need to know about this quaint little town. We were impressed with the souvenir quality from the many local craft's people and other unique gift promoting the district as well. A visit to the Connor Mill Museum is a must. So much well preserved history of the pioneer days and restored milling equipment. Very well documented in an easy manner to read with personalised history.A credit to those who have maintained the museum over the years. Only $3 each to visit would make you want to return again. The country hospitality in Toodyay was superb and lunch upstairs on the verandah at the Bakery was great, immersing ourselves in the friendliness of Toodyay.
Toodyay is a little hidden gem and a must see for any tourist. It is a very switched on country town and seems to have kept its mojo, despite severe fires a few years ago. Centre offers helpful advice and souvenirs to boot. The Wendourie Café has lovely lunches - and reasonable prices. The Emporium is another great place - antiques and other offerings.
Dropped in for a few pamphlets on local places Staff very polite and helpfulWalked out with a couple of cups
An excellent spot to find out about local places of interest. The staff were friendly and very helpful. For $3 you can go through to the old mill museum and see how wheat was ground and prepared for sale in the early 1900's.
Extremely helpful staff, Conor's Mill (attached to visitors centre) is well worth the visit if you like old working farm machinery.
Me n my hubby stopped here for lunch mid week (after a VERY long bike ride) the menu is big, offering plenty of choice for everyone. We ordered cheese burger n chips & club sandwich n chips with 2 coffees. Best coffee I've ever had - burger was fresh, lots of salad n fair amount of chips! Hubby had the club (I was a little jealous) was 10/10! Will be back as they do yummy breakfast! Shane it's so far from us.... Will be returning in near future.
Plenty to do and see here and friendly helpful staff Also has an Olde World sweet shop inside as well as local crafts and food
Again very helpful staff and a good selection of information leaflets available. The mill next door is worth a look in too
possibly the best town in Australia! beautiful countryside and full of great people! I enjoyed every minute I spent there. come to toodyay!!!! woooooo!!!!!
Needs some information of banking and pharmacist . Called in and ask the question and was given the right answer and direction . Thank you
Menus said our famous pancakes! What it should have read was, three little pikelets out of a packet from Coles! Cheap rubbish!! This is the second time we have been to this place and it was rubbish . Save your money and buy a packet from Coles for $3 bucks.
Dropped in on a busy Saturday on a motorbike ride. Had been looking forward to checking this out for awhile. Toodjay had a great vibe and plenty of people coming and going. With four of us feeling hungry and thirsty. Food was very good apart from one annoying thing, we had all finished our meat while one of us was still waiting for their meal. But that's the only thing we can have a grump about. So over all it's worth a visit. It from we could tell there are many good spots to eat and have a drink in Toodjay.
