Love the lavender, the food made with the lavender like the scones and the cakes., The craft. The friendly imformative staff.. Love being able to walk amongst the lovely smelling Lavender. And seeing the different varieties and to be able to buy the varieties that we liked. We have been there several times. The only things I dont like are the Bees. Which the plants need .
We arrived on a hot day when owner also looked hot & frazzled. We had the lavender ice cream which was ok but none of us finished it.There were some nice shady spots in pretty garden but overall we were slightly let down.
While visiting Balingup as a children's Book Author, i had chance to visit a few of the attractions.the Cider factory is in a beautiful location, the food is superb and cider not to bad either. The Lavender factory is also a delight, you can smell the lavender as you drive towards it,a small cafe in the town ship known as the Packing Shed had mouth watering fabulous food the country scenery is a photographers heaven, well done Balingup in keeping the township as country as possible. All the shop keepers dressed up in characters of children's books, from queen of hearts to the mad hatters tea party, they were also preparing for the yearly medieval festival, which we attended 2014, what an amazing experience.
Great set up, lovely products and beautiful gardens. Take the time to roam around the gardens while you visit.
the farm is quiet, serene and really picturesque when all the lavender flowers are in bloom. For a small token fee, you are welcomed to roam around the gardens and enjoy the scenery and appreciate all the flowers. Unfortunately lavender is a summer flower and blooms mainly in December which is summer in Australia. So it can get a tad hot if you plan to visit. Be sure to bring sunnies or a cap or something just to add a small level of comfort for yourself. Plus side : you can order home made lavender ice cream and enjoy the fresh cool taste in the hot weather!
Beautiful garden, Lavender in season... usually December, but roses and californian poppies in late spring.Excellent range of lavender gifts.. I brought back some sachets as Christmas presents,Courteous owner.
I have visited the farm on several occasions over the years, taking friends and family from overseas. During the summer the colours, and the smell of the lavender fields is amazing. Their lavender oil is the best I have purchased and a great to cure most ills!
Balingup Lavender Farm is a a beautiful place, full of colour and peace. I'd like to point out to one or two of the reviewers that the Lavender at the farm only flowers once a year and no matter what the quantity, that doesn't change! Also, as made perfectly clear on the brochure and website, the farm is not open in July! It is hardly fair to give it a poor rating for those two facts. WIth or without flowering lavender, the products are wonderful and varied ... and made on the premises, and the garden is always a delight. The farm is a testament to the industry and care of the owners.
a bit of disappointment for us. we thought we will have a sea of lavender, but unfortunately the owner was telling us that it was not in season. however, with the size of the garden and the plant numbers, i don't see how this is going to become a lavender sea.i have taken some photos, so see for yourself :)
Went to visit Balingup Lavender Farm, "with over 8K plants of 40 varieties". Tiny place, almost didn’t bother getting out of car! Some lavender in the pretty garden, but couldn’t see any fields of it! Looked in the garage which had some info and a still, on display. Went into the tiny shop of ‘Art Exhibit and Crafts’ which was like a garden shed. Pleasant gentleman told us he and his wife run the place and make the lavender products. I asked if they have fields, and he said it was not the time (November). No sign of fields anywhere, just the pretty cottage-garden. He said they accept $2 donations for the Flying Doctor Service, but much as we respect the FDS, we felt the garden was not even worth a visit!
The smelliest (in the best way) place I've been too in a long time. Loved the displays & lavender cookies, got lots of goodies here :)
Our Brochure and advertising material clearly states that we are open Sept to April , not during winter months.
The aroma is intoxicating . . . lavender icecream - a taste sensation!
The Lavender Farm is set on a hillside amongst beautiful gardens and the lavender fields on the one side. The owner is enthusiastic and knowledgable about the uses of lavender and goes through a most informative description of the processing of the product and extraction of the lavender oil. The shop is stocked with a wide range of products derived from lavender all made on site. The farm and shop are well worth a visit.
