Loved the Spanish school. I thought that the professors knew exactly what they were doing, they catered to our schedule and level of Spanish and made the class fun. I wish that we were able ton spend more time at the school as we need to keep practicing.

I've went to montanita to learn spanish and to surf - both was excellent. But vesides that, I've had a amazing time and found a lot new friends! The cabanas and the hist family as well are both a great choice. The spanish/surfschool is very good and the teachers are more than just teachers. They are friends and help you with everything you have. I can only recommend to spend your dtax in montanita with the montanita spanish school/cabanas

Wow, where do I start with the Montanita Spanish School. The school, Great teachers, the structures is really clear and the learning is at your pace. The School support StaffWow they are really great, always organizing things to keep a community spirit in the school and it really works well.CabanasThe accommodation is great the best in Montanita, the school community continues into the cabanas giving you a really laid back and exciting time all at once, the choice is yours.Surf Lessons and SurfingThere is an option to rent a Board or take surfing lesson, the surfing team are great and really do love surfing and helping you get the most from the surfing. In General Montanita is a great surfing spot and there are regular surf trips organised through the school.

I took 2 weeks of Spanish at the school and it gave me a great base for the rest of my travels through South America. The staff and all the people in Montanita were so hospitable. Also, the people I met in my classes I still stay in touch with today. I met so mamy great people. Amazing experience that I wouldn't give up for anything.

There's an awesome vibe at this place, the staff are super friendly and my spanish progressed really quickly under their teaching. They organise surfing day trips and nights out in Montanita which goes above and beyond for a Spanish School.

I spent 4 weeks at the Montanita Spanish School. I wanted to learn spanish and arrived a complete beginner. The teachers were amazing, so kind and friendly and I really liked their teaching methods. The number of students in group classes is small but you also have the opportunity to take private classes. They are a bit more expensive, but definitely worth it, especially when you are at a higher level then A2. The classrooms are nice, with some outside. All the staff are very approachable and they really care about you, always waiting to help with your matters of concern. Also the interns are very enthusiastic and organize a lot of different activities every week. This openness of the staff makes it very easy to feel comfortable and enjoy your time in Montanita. Other activities including the surf, salsa and yoga classes are a lot of fun and a good variety.I stayed in a home stay family. It was very interesting to get to learn the ecuadorian culture in this way. Their kindness and warmth is hard to describe and it also helped my language skills to practice the spanish after school. Also the place Montanita is beautiful and the parties are awesome. You get to know many different people and the locals aswell. On the whole I am very satisfied with my stay at Montanita. I learned a lot of spanish and for my future life, I met amazing people, I had a great time and can't wait to come back.

Activities beyond the Spanish classes are organized. So it's social and awesome in combination with learning Spanish! I loved it and will definitely come back to improve my Spanish even more...

The Montañita Spanish school is the perfect way to learn Spanish in South America. Not only do they have a very professional and motivated team of teachers and staff, who will do everything in their possibilities to give you Spanish Classes at your level and according to your wishes. The school also offers brilliant combinations like Spanish and surf, or Spanish and volunteer, or Spanish and dive. They tailor a program for you so you can combine whichever activities you like. Next to that I must say, it feels like being part of a big family. The staff and interns make sure everybody feels included and organise several evening activities to give you the chance to get to know your fellow students: welcome dinners, bbq, surf trips and every Wednesday a new activity, such as cooking class, pool Tournament, Spanish game nights, beach soccer and many More! The school also offers a very nice volunteering program in the local school or hospital, combined with Spanish Classes. They offer two options for accommodation: the beautiful paradise that is the Montañita cabanas or a home stay at one of the local families with breakfast and dinner at the family, to improve your Spanish even More! If you want to learn Spanish in a vibrant beach town, get to know wonderful people and maybe do surfing, yoga, volunteering, diving or just chill at the beach and have a cocktail: Montañita Spanish school is THE place to Go!

I spent 3 weeks studying spanish at this school. I learned SO much in such a short time. They also offer private lessons which are fantastic as well. I found the school VERY accommodating. I learned SO much, and was able to travel around Ecuador with what I learned, and left with more to learn as well. They also have many events through each week and the interns were very enthusiastic. I enjoyed the weekly dinners for new students. If you're into partying and learning Spanish, this is a great place to do that. The reason I give a 4 star, is that the surfing which they offer, had an instructor that didn't pay much attention to me. After mentioning this, the instruction was MUCH better. The other instructor was fantastic!Spanish instruction was FANTASTIC and highly recommended!

A well run and excellent school for learning Spanish. Me and my girlfriend had a month here and could easily have stayed longer! The classes are well thought out with 2 hours of grammar/learning on the morning and 2 hours of practice/conversation in the afternoon each with a different teacher so you don't get too comfortable. We had over 8 different teachers whilst we were there and without exception they were all excellent! They knew what they were doing and would always know where we were in our classes. I did the surfing lessons too which were also brilliant and after a couple of weeks I was just taking a board out on my own. I'd say their board rental is a little pricey though vs. what you can get in town. The admin staff and everyone else were really helpful and friendly too and dealt with any queries very quickly. The only negative I would say is they can be a little inflexible once money has been paid, in terms of changing from group to private classes etc or leaving early. We had no problems but some others did. Still the school exceeded our expectations completely. A great place to learn Spanish and get some sun and surf at the same time!

I travelled to Montanita to learn Medical Spanish and to volunteer in the local hospital. I originally wanted to take two weeks of classes and volunteer for another two weeks. I loved it so much that I ended up staying for two months. The teachers are very outgoing and helpful when it comes to grammar. Classes felt more like speaking Spanish with a friend rather than tedious studying. I picked up conversational Spanish fairly quick and was able to speak with the locals and other students after just a couple of weeks. The teachers were very easy-going, but focused at the same time which allowed a relaxed learning atmosphere. Because of this I felt more confident in my Spanish and felt I learned more since I was not afraid to make a mistake. The school itself was great with beautiful views of the ocean. From the classrooms on the outdoor balcony I was able to watch whales jump from the water while studying! The interns of the school also made my stay more enjoyable by organizing many activities and providing a comfortable, safe, but fun environment. The school also offers surfing classes, as well as many rewarding volunteer opportunities. I also stayed in the Montanita Cabanas where I made life-long friends who felt more like a family. I recommend the school to anyone who wants to learn Spanish while having the time of your life!

After initially booking in for 2 weeks of study at the Montañita Spanish School, I ended up staying for 4 as I was having such great time and learning so much. Apart from being a fantastic place to learn spanish (after only 4 weeks of having previously zero spanish I had a solid foundation to base the rest of my South American trip on), the staff are amazingly friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home, and made it very tough to say goodbye. Whilst I was a complete beginner, they offer both group and private lessons to cater for people of any experience / aptitude, and I personally did 3 weeks of group and 1 week of private lessons which for me was a perfect mix. The structure of a 2 hour grammar class in the morning, and 2 hour conversational class in the afternoon is a great way to learn and then practice the basics and split the day up.Other than learning Spanish, the town itself is a bustling hive of activity, and the perfect place to mix up using your brain with a great surf break, lazing on the beach, and partying at night. Most of the students stay either at the Cabañas (which have great facilities and wifi) or do a homestay with a local Ecuadorian family, both of which have their pluses. I personally did a homestay for 3 weeks, which was a great way to get in plenty of practice, and then spent the last week at the Cabañas as they were a bit more on the social side. The staff also organise events a couple of times a week to help facilitate everyone both getting to know each other and practice what they have learnt. With regards to a couple of the reviews below saying all you do is party, your experience at the school (as with any travel experience) is what you make of it. If all you want to do is party, then thats easy to do, if you want to have a good mix of education and learning whilst enjoying one of the best beach towns South America has to offer, then thats easy too.All in all I can't say enough good things about the school, the place, or the people who staff it.

Montanita spanish school is an ideal place to learn spanish, fx in the beginning of your South America trip. I went to the school for 3 weeks and lived in the cabanas which is connected with the school. The teachers are really friendly and talented in their teaching, and I enjoyed the 2 hour morning and afternoon lessons. The school also offers homestay with local families, which I would say is the most effective way to learn spanish. In the Cabanas you automatically speak english with fellow students, but on the other hand you will meet lots of new friends there.... Do not book surf lessons for more than the first week! - that is expensive, and i reccomend you, to go rent a board instead.
