I am not really a museum person but I am glad I was dragged into this one by my friend - Botero's work generates happy thoughts, enough that I bought a couple of prints to bring home to share. It's free, doesn't take long to go through all the galleries. Try it!
The collection of art was great. Bolero at its best. The location is great as well with many hints to do before and after muses.
The coins displayed in this museum are lovely but it is small and the exhibits are randomly arranged.
I would definitely recommend visiting this gallery. Botero's style is very unique. There are also some works from other artists. Entry is free. The Botero museum is also open until 7pm, which is a bit longer than other attractions so you can come here towards the end of the day if you are short on time. If you are coming by transmilenio, get off at the gold museum and walk down cr 7. Alternatively, it is within walking distance from Av Jimenez.
Love this small and wonderful museum, filled with Botero's paintings and sculptures. Take the time to walk around the area, winding in and out of the alleys and back streets. It's gorgeous.
You're allowed to !See some of the corpulent paintings of Fernando Boltero and just allow your tummy to jingle inside ! Think Volume vs.
even if you do not like Botero, the 19th and 20th century art and sculpture collection at the botero museum are special. the audio is great also. and then the colombian and other artists at the bank of hte republic museum make this an amazing visit for modern [not ultracontemporary] art lovers
I came here by accident. I was walking down the street and saw the giant hand at the entrance. The museum es gorgeous, the works are fantastic and you won't find just Botero's work, but also some of the most influent painters of the 20th century. It has also a beautiful garden inside, iconic of central american architecture.
I'm a huge fan of Botero's works and if you are too, Museo Botero should be your priority when you visit Bogota. It has lots of Botero's works. Not to mention the famous "Fatty Mona Lisa"
A lot of work from Botero, who depicted his image of the colombian culture and history very well and in a nice way. If you rent an audioguide, you get some explanations of his work, you should definitely rent one!
This is a fun place to wander. The artist's principal theme is pudgy people but he has also donated some very impressive works from other artists to the people of Columbia. That is a very selfless and fine gesture by this artist.
Incredinble experience! the house it self is a beatiful place and the art work is outstinding, they not only have paintins but also sculptures, they way they have them on display kind of following the development of the autor, the lighting the scenary, breathtaking; and they also have artwork from other autors like Picasso, Kandinsky, Dali, Monet. Is a place that it can not be missed if visiting Bogota.
We are fans of Botero and one of our goals was to visit the museum. What a treat! Easy access, not too expensive.
We toured the Museo. Very nice and free. Unusual art, but good to see. Botero is Colombia, so lots of his art here, and from many other artists, Picasso, Monet, etc. Enjoy!
I didn't think we'd get to this museum because when I was looking at the map before we left, it looked like it would be too far from where we would be. But then we were walking down the street and happened to pass it. The man at the door encouraged us to come in and told us it was free!Nicely laid out, many wonderful Botero pieces, but also a really nice selection of smaller works by other artists (Picasso, Degas, Klimt, Monet, etc.). Lovely!
