better to visit with the new urban design and attraction. Be careful with very sunny days because there is not enough shadow along the beach.

A beautiful place to walk, take pictures, see the markets around and sometimes concerts that are going on. Make sure to take advantage of the beach, it is really nice beach with clear water and natural swimming pools.

the location, at the end of the pedestrian seafront walk, is very nice. a lot of very nice typical small restaurants are all around the place.

This is a sandy beach along the ocean. The water is crystal clear. It was crowded being on a weekend but still good enough to stay there and enjoy the sun.

The view is great for people watching but, the vendors are quite annoying. Hang on to your stuff because people are quicker than Houdini. I don't mean to knock anyones hustle but if you want to sit back with a few beers and watch the beautiful people play volleyball, you will be constantly bombarded with vendors asking you to purchase a scarf, a chair (thanks, I'm already in a chair), cheese, sunglasses, etc.

I staying here in Barra next to the beach for 16 days. Have been on the beach every day is great and clean. They are doing project here in Barra where scuba divers and free divers clean the ocean. I was amazed to see 4 or more boats of divers near this beach bring up trash. The walk way along the street about the beach is mostly closed to traffic and well lit. There were police mostly close to the Lighthouse. Me and my girlfriend walk during the day and night no problems. You will see people riding bikes and running people here seem very health oriented. There are trash cans on the light posts street is very clean. The Beach about 60% is protected by reef make very quiet water and warm. Towards the end of the beach heading north the reef stops and you see people riding wave with surf boards and wake boards. There was music and restaurants to choose from I would recommend it and alway crowed on the weekend. Not like wall to wall people you can just bring a towel or there were umbrella with chairs to rent.

This beach has a nice view of the fort but it is not so good for bathing. It has a small sand area and too many people around making the experience not so good in some days.

Barra beach area is short and it becomes crowded when surfers and others trainers join in. It's good to walk along side around afternoon.

Well it's a beach alright, mostly used by the locals, but not the tipical tropical beach you would expect to see. Even so it's a beautiful place, really typical and worth going there if you want to see local people in their habitat.

There are more waves at Farol da Barra beach than at its neighbor, Porto da Barra. However, this doesn't make Farol da Barra a dangerous place to swim. Just be aware of the rocks (there are reefs very close to the sand). Ideally, this is a good place to go when the tide is low, because the reefs are visible and they form small, shallow “pools” which are great for children. Avoid the part of the beach that’s further away from the lighthouse, for that is the dirtiest side. An upside to this beach is that it is located just below a large sidewalk, where you can take a stroll and check some restaurants serving “carangueijo” (crab), “lambreta” (shellfish) and other local appetizers. The sidewalk is currently under construction between the lighthouse and Porto da Barra, but the part next to Farol da Barra beach is already completed. You can pay R$10 (annual fee) and rent one of Itaú bikes (the orange ones) nearby - check the app “Bike Salvador” for further information. On weekends, especially on Sundays, it can get quite crowded and very hard to find a parking spot. But even so, it’s lots of fun! Be careful with your belongings: if you go for a swim, have a friend watch your cell phone, camera etc. Although there are always plenty of policemen nearby, it is not a bad idea to prevent something from getting stolen.

This has become my favourite beach in Salvador. At one end you will find the beach football players and the surfers and at the other end there is the Lighthouse (Farol) and a decent amount of shade from the tall building at this end. The water is very nice although there are some rocks, simply look where other people are swimming and you will be fine. There aren't as many beach barracas/stalls so it's much more peaceful and it's very easy to bring you towel and enjoy a peaceful time . There are also a lots of acai/juice/bars just behind the beach on Barra Avenida which is now pedestrianised. So stay on the beach, watch the sunset behind the farol and enjoy a nice drink afterwards with some live music(most days)

ok to walk, some cheap options to eat, but if you go for the beach go to another one, be careful with thiefs

Really nice to stay in the hotels at this beach and walk there. It can get crowded on weekends and high season.

I went there to see the sundown. Awesome experience. The museum inside offers some informations, but only in portugues. Nice view from the top. Entrance fee is quite high, 16rs (half for students etc.)

Farol da Barra is a very beautiful place to go, look around, take some photos and see the sunset. But the beach itself is not good, dirty water and rubbish everywere.
