If you are a music, architecture, or simply a lover of beautiful things, you must visit this theatre. Sitting on the edge of the lake, in a town more reminiscent of Germany, but filled with the warmth of the Chilean people, this place is a jewel and worth several visits.Sadly, the tour is only in Spanish, so you'll miss several details. That's why I would definitely recommend that you enjoy on of their concerts!
This modern theater juts out onto the lake in Frutillar. There are 45 minute tours so one can see the insides as well as the outsides of the theater. These tours are only in Spanish and, even if you speak the language, they are a bit verbose spending too much time describing what the materials are and not enough time on architectural detail. Never-the-less unless you take the tour or attend a concert, you will not see the inside of the theater, and that is worth seeing.
So you are travelling through the Lagos Region, Frutillar has only 16.000 inhabitants, and out of nowhere the Teatro del Lago appears. It is probably one of the best Theatres in Chile. The view is amazing, the building is really nice, and if you are lucky you might run into an international show in the Theatre. The tour is worth it! Keep an eye on the Teatro del Lago programme and try to fit a stop there. Surprising!
We were there on a night with a drama completion. The building is right on the lake with lots of refreshment options and a priceless view of the volcanoes all around the area.
Teatro al Lago is beautiful and charmy by outside, and I bet it is even better inside. Unfortunately we couldn't make to watch one of the music presentations that were playing in February 2014. On summer that is a bunch of concerts there
From our location across Lake Llanquihue from the Teatro, we are reminded everyday of this magical gift of culture here in Frutillar. The beauty of the architecture greets everyone who lives or even passes through the area along the lake. If you have a chance to attend any one of the world class events, you will come away with a sense of amazement that this level of quality can be found in a this great, little resort facing Osorno Volcano.
We spent a morning at Frutillar and the "Teatro" atracted us because it looks great from the outside. The Bar inside was just great with a beautiful view to the lake and Osorno volcano, and the great bar attendants were just caring for us. In addition, there was a great photo exhibition on Japan. Just great!!
Good music and the theater and excellent views of the lake as the facility sits out over Lago LLanquhue and looks at Volcan Osorno. Very nice.
finished after 12 years of construction at the end of 2010, the Teatro del Lago is absolutely stunning. The wooden architecture (the lumber is imported from Austria) is harmonic and alone worth a visit. The facilities are first class and the lovely café is also well worth a visit. The performances and events are hand-picked and we tremendously enjoyed our experience. all staff is really friendly and helpful and appreciate your questions and curiosity - just ask!would definitely go again and recommend to a friend.
This is such a quaint town and Teatro del Lago is one of the places you will run across while walking. There's a beautiful lake and they have musical symbols outside as you walk around this location. We came here as one of our stops from Peurto Montt on a private tour and this was just an adorable place to wander around.
At last! A beautiful performance venue for classical concerts! (and other types of music) This stunning location and lovely building will bring throngs, and offer the perfect setting for beautiful music! Go!
This theater is awesome. The construction of it out over the water must have been a challenge. The wood exterior is quite different using different types of wood with an occasional piece of blue vertical wood placed for color. There are big names scheduled which means it must be a success and this town could use a boost.
We took a guided visitors tour for 1 hour at an inexpensive fare. This is one of the best theaters in the world and located in a fantastic place on the lake. Definitely I will be back some day to listen a sinfonic or opera performance.
I visited the theater as part of my day trip to Frutillar. Just as I approached the building I felt the journey had begun. Beautiful architecture, a wooden construction that follows the trend in Chilean Southern buildings, yet with a moder twist that adds some nice palet of colors that blends with the unique background of the lake. There were no performances the day I visited, however, there is an art gallery inside that I believe has exhibitions all year round. Had a coffee overlooking the lake (internet available), there was a nice range of pastry choices too. Good prices. Also, I understand the place has a geothermal heating system, something quite unique in the country (green energies usage), which makes this atraction not also pretty, but sustainable.
Unfortunately during our stay, there weren't any performances on the dates we were in Frutillar. What we did do was enjoy their lakeside bar/restaurant. It was a beautiful sunny day when my husband and I walked over to the teatro and sat outside and enjoyed a glass of wine while taking in the beautiful views. If visiting Frutillar, try to plan ahead so you can enjoy what we've only seen online; the inside of the beautiful theatre floating on the lake.
