The colors are amazing. Location in the middle of the mountains and direction Perito Moreno. During the day depending on the light the lake looks different and always beautifoul.
Fantastic place to go and check for yourself. If you go to Calafate, you canot miss any of the attractions from nature. Don´t forget that most probably is the main reason why you went there...
Yes interesting if you are 60+ years but younger crowd can do other more adventurous tours. Lago Argentino is beautiful lake but there are other option in the area.
Serenely beautiful. I spent a couple hours ambling about near the water's edge enjoying the beauty and rejuvenating my mind. Find a comfortable rock, sit, relax, absorb the views. Implant them in your mind. Talk about medicine for the mind!
Sailed on this lake on the way to the wonderful Upsala glacier. Nothing special beside little icebergs floating.
This is a huge and beautiful lake in breathtaking surroundings. Bird life was extensive. We loved the feeling of vastness that we got here.
I visited this place 25 years ago, and just now. The lake is wonderful, with outstanding views. However, you can see very well the recession of the glaciers and the lack of "icebergs".Any of the stupid people denying the global warming should be brought here and shown pictures of what was, versus what is now.
It was very calming and beautiful. it was a bit chilly when we went but it was nice to look at and see all the wildlife nearby.
Lago Argentino is HUGE and beautiful and colorful. It is worth it to take a boat ride on the lake to see the Upsala Glacier and visit Estancia Cristina for a day (or and overnight or two) visit. You will be in awe of the scenery and the remoteness of the glacier and the Estancia.
Lago Argentino is huge and coupled with the far away mountains looks magnificent. The blue water surface seems to extend beyond the horizon and offers stunning views at different times - particularly early morning and late evening. From our hotel room the beautiful waterbody seemed to extend till eternity!
We took the boat cruise of Lake Argentino and saw many glaciers, especially the two main ones: Upsala and Spegazzini. Wow! There are snow-capped peaks and waterfalls in every direction. We got lucky with perfect weather, so we had maximum visibility. Upsala has "calved" many "icebergs": the various shades of blue in the ice are simply stunning. Argentine tourists know all about the boat tour; on the day we went, there were four boats on the water, and all four were quite crowded. Our hotel desk clerk recommended the VIP room, which turned out to be well-worth it; the enjoyable food and drinks more than made up for the upcharge in cost.
The lake is different in different places; it's a charming bird-attracting wetlands along its shoreline in El Calafate. In town, the lake has a wide walkway with many nice places to sit and enjoy its beauty, the black-neck swans, upland geese, ducks, and flamingoes. The paved walkway is a short walk from the main tourist drag and walking along its shore is a lovely thing to do in the summer evenings. The water is mostly too scary and dangerously frigid for water sports. Tiffany blue, it has two arms that are sometimes dammed by the Perito Moreno glacier.
The colour of the lake is similar to that of the blue in the Argentine flag, hence its name. It is huge, magnificent, calm and just - well - beautiful!!
Loved all the beautiful views as we drove thru the Patagonian coun try side. Saw Guanaco's, condors, Rhea's. Loved our trip
