Park museums are a museum district of Copenhagen created in collaboration between David Collection, The Hirschsprung Collection, Filmhuset, Rosenborg Castle, the Natural History Museum and the National Gallery. Park Museums are in the middle of Copenhagen among beautiful greenery. Here you can experience the best of art and the natural world. And enjoy the many possibilities - inside and outside.
The Hirschspring collection is one of my all times favorites. It's a cute little museum, which a fantastic selection of art - Danish Impressionists and Skagen painters. I highly recommend a visit. Wednesday (I think it is), it free to enter.
This small building out the back of the National Gallery has a wonderful collection of fine arts and a very detailed audio-guide to go with it. If you want to see real Danish art, this is the place to go, and at the same time you can learn about life in the 18th to 20th centuries, the artists and their inspiration. Absolutely not to be missed!
In the park behind big brother Statens Museum for Kunst, a small, pleasant building hosts the Hirschprung Collection of 19th and 20th century Danish painting. An audio-guide provides information, in Danish or English, about a selection of these. Most of the paintings are landscapes and portraits. Hammershoi and Kroyer stand out, but the collection makes clear why Denmark is not primarily known for its painting. So: visit if you are a great fan of Danish art, have seen most other museums in Copenhagen, or simply want to enjoy a stroll in an intimate museum off the beaten track.
This lovely collection is located around the block from the Danish National Gallery. It's not as visited as the main museum, but it has many fabulous works by many wonderful artists.
a nice little neoclassical museum with danish art from the 19th and early 20th century .The museum exhibits more than 700 works of art. The emphasis is on the Golden Age of Danish Painting. All the major painters of the period are represented,
As me was the best museum that I visited in Copenhagen. You can see art most of the beautiful artworks from danish artists
This unassuming collection is one of Copenhagen's "Park Museums". It lies in a lovely green setting near the center of town. The collection traces the development of Danish painting through the 19th and very early 20th century, including the most famous works of the Skagen Painters. Also present are a selection by the world-class artists Hammershøj and Købke. I've visited it many times, and doubtless will return.
This is a small museum, a gem, filled with Danish art from the early 1800s to early 1900s, an important period in Nordic art. It is the collection of a Danish family, Hirschsprung, and among the paintings there are lots very famous ones by the Skagen-painters such as P S Kröyer, Anna Ancher, Michael Ancher and many others. It is located in a park, just behind the Statens Museum för Kunst, in Stockholmsgade. A visit can take up to 2 hrs. Normally, it is not crowded and the staff are all very, very helpful and nice.
This museum is a delight. It is just the right size to be pleasing without becoming overwhelming. It takes about half an hour to walk here from the train station. Bring a 10 kroner coin for the locker; you get it back when you retrieve your coat.
Located in a park, a bit out of donwntown. You can access it by bus 26. The building as well as the presentation very nice. It is free with Copenhagen card. Have a coin with you for the locker.
This gallery is smaller than the Glyptoteket or the SMK, but it is a worthy rival, with its outstanding collection of Danish art. Full to the brim, it is well worth a visit. If you have a Copenhagen Card, you have no excuse not to, as it will cover the admission fee. A great initiation to Danish art!
Although I lived in Copenhagen in the 80-es, I never visited this museum before, but I am very happy, I did at last this time.Museum is a great, small museum of art especially from Danish Golden Age time around 1900. It was given to the public by the Jewish Cigar Manufacturer Hirschsprung, who started buying paintings for his home also from at that time not so known artists, who later became famous. This way, he contributed to their lifehood and helped them continue and later, we all can benefit even now from his generous gift to us all
If you want to understand Danish history and people through painting this is the right place to visit. Do not forget to ask the audio that guides you throughout the museum.
Each room has one to three artists in a home like setting. The ceiling is frosted glass so you get the benefit of daylight. Truly a collection of paintings you will want to see. There is no cafe or restaurant so eat or drink on either side of your arrival. Most rooms have center seating and the floors are mostly wood which are kinder on your feet. We visited on a Wednesday and there was no entrance fee. Storage for your coat is 10 dkk but the coin is refunded at the end of the visit.
