I am proud to inform that I live on Karl Marx Avenue in Dnepropetrovsk - one of the biggest cities of modern Ukraine. For sure this Avenue is the biggest, the widest and the longest in Europe as it has not only the tram line, bulevards with beautiful chestnuts, pavements as well as two roads for traffic. There are not only shops on it but several theatres, oldest parks and univercities along with many squares, old and modern monuments and a lot of restaurants, cafes etc.
hard to imagine that a street is an attraction by itself! However, residents claim that it is the longest street in Ukraine. Colleagues in Zaporoshye claim that Lenin street there is the longest in Ukraine LOL Karl Marx Blvd is interesting and a dream for those that love to walk. There is a lot of construction so be careful. Many interesting building - especially Soviet era. Nice cafes and shops too
Where all happens... Starting from the central station up to the hills with great view to the river... With loth of parks, theaters, malls, cinemas etc.
Yes, some of my friends enjoy shops, malls, but cars, no good avenue, just small parts are not the best place for walk.
I would start by taking the tram up to the Church of Preobrazheniya and visit the museum next to it. From there, take the street down, look around and notice the shops and the distinct flavor of the city. Closer to the downtown area, where the street is even and not downhill, you can find a great artisan market with fantastic Ukrainian paintings, knickknacks and souvenirs. Chat with the artists - and definitely visit an old babushka, who sells her daughters painted boxes - she is the sweetest lady ever. You can pass by the Opera theater and even go as far as the gorgeous train station.
This is an avenue down the middle of the road with shady trees. There are artisans...painters, carvers, embroidery, russian dolls and other trinkets for sale. This is a really nice walk and there are parks, the opera house and shops to explore.
Named after the Philosopher Karl Marx, this is the longest (and largest) avenue in the city. It even has a green, pedestrian boulevard where trams run on either side. Many landmarks and shopping centres are located on this avenue.
The main street of Dnipro is fairly long, some twenty minuts with tram. Most of administrative buildings are located on it. But since soviet time, the new business, shopping and entertaiment was created just closer to riverbank near middle part of 'Karla Marksa'. In this part the street has many different eating facilities on both sides
It is a real browadway. I mean "broad way", it is a pleasure to walk along Karl Marx Avenue, to look at interesting buildings and to visit many sightseeing places
Building are very old and interesting. But so mane ads on them that you can't se all the beauty they have.
Excellent "Prospect" / Boulevard!! Almost like walking down Oxford Street or the main street of any other European country. Excellent choice of shops and shopping. Excellent choice of eating opportunities. Unfortunately... you only need to walk one or two streets behind Karl Marx Prospect to be "hit" (almost literally) in the face with a world of almost 3rd world poverty!! A real honest & truthful crying shame to say about what is otherwise a beautiful city with it's central River also!
