I went to visit this place in the summer of 2013. I was born in Ukraine. When we got here... I was a little scared because it was on a huge hill. And Im not that amazing with heights.... but after a while... we started to climb up on the structure... and take lots of pictures. It was a really nice experience. And a great place to just sit down, lay a blanket down and have a picnic while looking at the beautiful view of the town / village.

http://www.shtetlinks.jewishgen.org/SkalaPodol/Goluchowski.htmlUnfortunately this palace has fallen into disrepair, but at one time it must have been spectacular. I have attached a link of what the palace once looked liked and it was beautiful. The palace also overlooked the valley below with the Zbrucz River running through it in Scala Podilska. We were told at one time in the early part of the 20th century that the river was the boundary between Poland and Russia. In the 19th Century the palace was in the possession of the Goluchowski family, a family of old Polish nobility who were advisors to the Austro – Hungarian Emperor. One of the Goluchowskis was also the governor of the Galacia. From the link above it seems that the palace was still in use during WWII so it is conceivable that during this time, that it was damaged. Unfortunately, with my poor grasp of the Ukrainian language I wasn’t able to ascertain the answer. Some large pieces are still standing so you can make out where the rooms were at one time, you just need to use your imagination.
