The fee is reasonable. There was supposed to be extra charge for taking photo's but she waved it.I liked seeing how they live in there, the bunks right next to the missiles! And now I can say "Yeah, I've been inside a submarine, haven't you?".
Yes, the first part is really boring with photos, medals, uniforms and the like (and only in Russian). But when you get into the real submarine area through the hatchways... wow! The control room with the periscope, the dining-room, the bunks and even the torpedo room! For me it was the highlight of Vladivostok... even though the sub is out of the water...
The sub was totally on land near the bay; I walked through the sub and found interesting information about its years of service. Displays show how crew lived and worked while under water. Interesting relic from the Cold War Era. It is obvious that the Russian sailors did not have an easy or soft life at sea.
Brilliant and amazing experience of submarine life in WW2. Set along side the harbor and close to other attractions of this truly wonderful city.
the submarine on dry land was longer than you see today it is set in lovely grounds and is great for a photo opportunity
The museum is ok to visit if you really like old Russian submarines.Entry fee: It only costs 100rub to enter and you have to pay to use camera (50rub) and video camera. Museum: It will take maybe 1hr max to visit. You walk through most of the submarine, the first part is just a museum with pictures in it (all descriptions are in Russian) and you may not even think you are in the submarine, then you climb through a small round door where you get into the part of the submarine which is really what you go there to see. There are 3 separate rooms, one with the main navigation area where you can see the periscope although it doesn't work, then you move through the area that looks like the captains rest area before moving into the crew rest area and torpedo room.Access: If you are in a wheelchair you unfortunately won't be able to get in as you have to climb through small doors, also if you are a very big person you may struggle with the limited space inside and if you don't like enclosed spaces i wouldn't recommend it.Souvenirs: You don't get a ticket on entry so apart from your photos there is no souvenir you can get from the submarine, on entry and exit there are guys selling some magnets and postcards but nothing really worth buying - if you do visit and are foreign take some foreign coins with you as the guy selling things at the exit collects foreign coins and may give you something from the shop if you have some you can give him. Summary: If you are not really interested in submarines then it's probably not worth a visit, it's difficult to really understand what anything is as there is next to no English (given that it was recently renovated this is a disappointment) and no guide books are available. However I've you have lots of time in Vladivostok then it's not going to cost you too much time to visit and it is pretty cheap to get in.
Whole live sub from the 2nd WW on the coast next to the WW 2 memorial, a museum ship, a church and an Imperial Arch. Can't remember the price but don't think it was expensive. Inside the submarine you can see 3 (mostly) original rooms: the control room with a non operational periscope and whole lot of switches and levers, officer/captain room with the obligatory Stalin portrait and the torpedo room with torpedo launchers, torpedoes and bunks above them where the crew slept. The first few rooms of the sub is used for exhibit and they contain pictures, maps, letters and personal items from the crew and officers. It is not a large museum but worth visiting nevertheless! Just by seeing the whole submarine on dry land I was satisfied, the interior was just the bonus. Anyway I haven't seen many submarine museums so I can't compare but this is a Must if you visit Vladivostok! It's really near the center of town so go see it and everything around it. Also some military ships are docked nearby.
Believe it or not, I've actually toured 3 other submarines. In this one, you actually tour half the boat (basically 3 rooms), as the other half is a museum that's mostly photos. You get to see the torpedos and the engines, but the periscope doesn't work to look through. You do get a nice photo of the sub from outside, and it's worth visiting if you're in the city, but it's not a highlight.
This is a fantastic museum, a great insight into the people who served in the submarine and the actual insides of the submarine. The first half of this submarine are displays and photos but walk further towards the 2nd half and you will see the insides of a real Soviet submarine. Some people say the periscope works, but I wasn't able to see anything on it..
Good location and easy to get to, other sites very close. The hours are ok. there is a small cathedral and park and some other famous structure I can't name right now. Worth a visit
The museum itself is rather small but you can get impression on how it looked like to stay in WW2 submarine. It is possible to watch pictures and items of that time. It would be pretty interesting for the history lovers and maybe children. You can cross the whole submarine for 10 minutes, nothing more to check inside. It is a short run to Arsen'ev museum (a branch), a small church and the Vladimir Vysotsky (the Russian singer) musical monument.
It is real submarine that participated in the Great Patriotic War (World War II). Visitors may come inside and feel a spirit of 40th of XX centuary.
I'd say, it's "a must-see" and "must-get-inside". Don't know a single person who didn't love it! It's a part of a larger memorial called Battle Glory of the Pacific Fleet which also includes the "Red Banner" ship (currently under renovation) berthed nearby, and a monument with eternal flame and large panels with names of the seamen perished in military operation. There's a small chapel also.
I do not think it is interesting plase. No interesteng for view here. The submarin is, but no into to see. Not many interesting place in Vladivostok. Not very good hotels but very expencive.
