This is an oasis of quiet, tradition and beauty in busy, crowded Moscow. It is an easy walk from Kolomenskoe metro. There are lots of places to eat and drink on the way from the metro station to the Park.

It is one of my lovely places in Moscow where the history, architecture and beautiful nature are intertwined: many objects to look at, many places to look from, souvenirs, meal... and the apple garden. Visit it in the end of August or at the first decade of September and you will be able to pluck testy apples from the trees in Moscow!

A very special park in Moscow. Very old orthodox churches, a view from the hill, an old burying-ground, and an apple garden are all at one place.

Huge park in 20 minutes from downtown with nice paths and promenade along Moscow river. Great place for walking, biking or roller skating.

If It's not so cold for you, take a day that the sky is clear and spend all of it in the Kolo. park. You'll fell amazed by the amount of great places to visit there, the sightseeing' and all the great moments you'll have.

If you have time, Kolomeneskoye Park is a place worth visiting. The park covers a great area where you can walk around and see a few churches, including The White Column of Kolomeneskoye that was included in the Unesco World Heritage List in 1994, a reconstruction of the Wooden Palace and a viewpoint where you can see a part of Moscow city. The wooden palace, although a reconstruction of the original one, is very beautiful and what struck me most was the unusual architecture and the vivid colors. There are two ways of getting to the Park, by subway or by car. We went by car and it took us about 30 minutes to get there. As most of the tourist attractions in Russia, it is better if you hire a private tour guide, as there are usually no english signs and almost no one speaks or likes to speak in English. To be fair there were a few English signs/pamphlets inside the palace explaining about the rooms, but they are very succinct and usually tour guides know more about the history of the place. If, on the other hand, you are not that interested in history I suppose you can go by yourself. The entire visit took us about half a day, we spent one to two hours in the Palace and about two hours walking around plus the rides to and from Kolomeneskoye. Worth your time!

This is a nice place to visit for a relaxing day, especially in the summer. There is quite a lot to see, several churches, a palace and other historical buildings. I visited on a nice, but very cold, day so I did not explore the whole park. I did try to visit the Church of the Ascension of the Lord, which is the main attraction. Unfortunately it is not open during the winter months so I only got to see the very small museum in the basement of the church. If you have the chance to go there during the spring you might be lucky enough to see the hundreds of apple trees in bloom. There is some food for purchase on small stands around the park, but you can also arrive with your own snacks. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the nearest Metro station, so it is easy to reach. The park itself is free of charge, but there is a fee for some of the attractions.

We visited in October 2014, after disembarking from an enjoyable Vodohod river cruise from St Petersburg to Moscow. The park is in a spectacular setting with hundreds of mature maple trees overlooking the river. The site is of great historical importance as Peter the Great spent his youth in this area. A holiday house in which he lived in Archangelsk was moved to the park and is open to the public. For architectural buffs there are churches and other buildings of interest to explore. For foodies, there are many cafes and food outlets that offer a good selection of tasty food. The coffee, whether cappuccino or latte, is excellent! The park is an easy train ride from Moscow central and there is a free shuttle to the park. However, it is only a short walk from the station. The park is a family friendly one. Highly recommended!

I have been there for the 1st time in the October 2008, and it was the best "indian summer" I can remember in my life... all the trees in the large park were golden and red in their autumnal bright colors, and the skies were cristal blue, the air clean and poignant. I have been there in 2009 with a friend of mine, we met a French girl there and showed her around, she was very happy to see such a park in Moscow. And the latest but I hope not last, I have visited there this May for a picknick with a group of friends but it was not very positive experience because of terrible rain and cold. Anyway, if you go to Kolomenskoye, best time is May (to see appletree garden in bloom)-October (to see the golden leaves of autumn), and the best places to visit are the 2 ancient churches (one in the Kolomenskoye park itself, huge and impressive church built for Ivan the Terrible, and buildings nearby) and another one in Diakovo village (on the top of the hill above the park) - the nice example of old Orthodox church architecture, and interesting historic graveyard nearby. If you wanna see less ancient stuff you'd better see the small wooden working house of Peter the Great, and the huge modern replica of the (destroyed) early 17th century palace built by his Dad, Tsar Alexey Mikhailovotch, with a decent guided tour inside.

Nature and great architecture in one visit. It's specially nice in autumn and before Eastern it's the place where many Russians love to celebrate "maslenitsa".

It's beautiful, there are sights to visit (like Peter's hut), there are exhibitions and festivals held here, there is always something to do... no cars allowed (and no swimming in the river :)) It's more on a wild side than Gorky park, VDNKh, etc., but is very well kept. The place is just great to spend a weekend afternoon/the whole day.
