Museum are pretty much the same all over the World. Nothing special at all. It is interesting with some nice relics, especially the miniaturized earrings used in ancient times, which suggest that civilization was really advanced as compared to nowadays.
Some of the exhibition rooms are still under construction but still it's the best museum in the city and it's a must to visit there for Ankara visitors.
This museum could be enough reason for anyone to visit Ankara, otherwise a very uninteresting city in terms of sightseeing. The collection is unique and impressive, and Anatolia is the real cradle of civilizations as the recent discoveries in Göbeklitepe have revealed.
One of the top three museums in Ankara. You can see all kinds of artifacts of all ancient civilizations that had flourished and got spread out in Anatolia 4000-5000 years ago, may be even more ancient ones too ! You must visit this one- of- a-kind Museum.
The exhibition is stunning. Offer an entry but comprehensive knowledge of evolving course of Anatolian civilization. Turkish as well as English intro is well presented. Also you can hire an audio guide.
An impressive museum with very many archeologic findings about Hittites, sumers and other civilizations of Anatolia.
Beautiful items in nice displays from all over Turkey. SIgns in English. Cafe,, bathroom, small gift shop.
This museum is in a 500 year old building upgraded to 21st century standards has a wonderfully curate collection of archaeological specimens from all areas of Turkey. Has items from all civilizations from the Bronze Age to the present. Great collection of Hittite items.
The museum is beautifully renovated and the exhibitions are even more wonderful than before, reflecting the many different civilisations that have existed in Anatolia over the last 5000 years or so. If you come to Ankara, this museum is an absolute must!In fact, it is worth coming to Ankara just to visit this museum.
If in Ankara, don't miss this museum. It is a tour through history in amazing detail which holds your attention.
When you go in, definitely go to the right. Everything in this big donut shaped museum is oriented for counter clockwise travel. The write ups on the pieces are a little boring and minimal. The stone statues were amazing and so was the jewelry and coins.
The extensive collection of Hittite and other Anatolyan treasures housed here is worth making the trip to Ankara to see. This relatively recently opened museum is mind-blowing for its wealth of artifacts carefully displayed and brought to life for visitors to enjoy and learn from.Amongst them are early godess figures of the Anatolians and many calf and other fertility symbols. The symbol of Ankara, itself dating back to the iron age is displayed here. There are unique double topped wine flasks from the Hitittes and items from Roman, Ottoman and Byzantine times, but the focus is on the very rich history of Anatolian civilisations and includes some very ancient Christian relics.Give yourself a good half day to take in th treasures and information here! Not to be missed!
