the belgrade fortress

I am not a history liker, but I liked the walk and the Pobednik statue. I should visit it during the summer when they have more stands and food.

The Belgrade fortress it's located at the very bottom of the old town, after being walking through the "Knez Mihailova".In the beginning this was a Roman fortress and over the centuries it was renovated and more fortified. It is overlooking the river Sava, from here you can see also the Danube River and much of the industrialized city right to the other side of the river and "the Great War Island" right in front of the fortress.This is the ideal place for photographs but mostly I highly recommend an evening stroll inside the walls, it's all really very romantic.

This place made history come alive! I loved walking the wall in the morning and as the sun goes down. I especially loved seeing how many people found hidden corners of the citadel to have intimate conversations and a cigarette. It's a beautifully romantic place. It's also a stunning walk through time as you wander past the Autro-Hungarian architecture, that stand flanking the roads and fountains left by the Ottoman's. I can't say enough.

Between the heart of belgrade city and two worldwide known danube river and sava river; that 's the belgrade fortress. Can be easily accessing from city center. So many gates with very thick steel doors, the fortress contains superb views of rivers, also has very nice park-kalemegdan- chapel and even restaurant.

This big fortress is located on the shore of Danube and Sava Rivers. It is a crossroad point. The fortress has 4 or 5 gates. Their names are King's, İstanbul, Zindan (dungeon) and so on. There is also a small Ottoman tomb, a clock tower and a modern statue called The Victor.The panoramic view is impressive. It is the oldest section of the urban area of Belgrade.

The place is spectacular. The views you get from the place are unforgettable. Any time and any weather the Fortress and its park are full of people and tourists. I like how the place is used for sports and social activities, this way bringing more people in. During a rainy, foggy day, you will feel the atmosphere of a horror movie, with all the trees and surroundings so old and grey.

Every time when I visit Belgrade i must come here. No matter what time of the year is this place is perfect. Always full of people and good nature. Perfect place to spend some summer night, siting on bench and drink some beer. Ziveli :)

Visited everything on the fortress during my 3-day stay in February, including the 2 churches and the military museum. This is a must when you come here!

Incredible view over Belgrade, lots of history, interesting facts, a huge and beautiful park, an amazing experience. Do not miss to see Kalemegdan.

Go with guide, a lot of things to hear...Unbelievable stories about European history. Specially Military museum (indoor exhibition) where you can learn quite a lot about Serbian history and battles fought in the past centuries. Quite amazing for me....
