Very well maintained, location is beautiful and adds to the atmosphere of the holiday - use the Hop on Hop off bus.
take the funicular up to the castle and enjoy touring this historical building which has lots to interest everyone. brilliant views over the city and surrounding area from the castle battlements.
This is a public park with lots of attractions. We went there as it now contains the summer house featured in the Sound of Music film. Not a lot to do on a wet March afternoon, worth a visit in the summer
Ive been here 3 times and the most recent time i brought my 7 year old. She had a blast on the tour of the fountains. The grounds are nice and theres a park with plenty for kids to do. The glass gazebo from Sound of Music is also located on the grounds. The schloss is nice building and we toured the interiors and thought it was well worth the entrance fee. We did the outside tour first, got a little wet and then toured the inside. There is a zoo nearby that we also visited. great family fun in a scenic location.
Not the most impressive castle in Austia or even in Salzburg, but a pretty castle with it's special places and spaces.
A great place to spend a nice day. Take the guided tour of the trick fountains but be prepared to get wet - very wet! The schloss itself is quite small but full of surprises and the gardens are vast and very pleasant.
Very interesting and fun. Since you may get slightly wet, it's best to go on a warm day. The tour guide demonstrated all the features of the garden and was very informative. An inexpensive and fun thing to do for the whole family.
here you can visit the residence and learn about the way of. living of the rich and then join a guided tour of the gardens. there you will meet with the great machinery of the builder who used water to joke with his guests. getting to the finish dry is not easy
What a treat to visit Hellbrunn Castle during the pre-Christmas Season. I consider myself a bit of a Christmas Market addict and this one ranks high on my list of must see and do markets. Loved the way the trees were adorned with large red glass balls that helped illuminate the scene further and impart a warm glow. The castle was transformed into a huge advent calendar and the pleasure garden offered a quiet place to explore. The artisans' booths were well positioned and it never felt crowded - so much choice and so many wonderful gift ideas. A feast for the senses!
The watergames were lots of fun to discover and the tour is definitely worth it.Markus Sittikus had a good sense of humour. Loved wandering around the gardens and palace and enjoying a cool but sunny Salzburg day
Thankfully we were able to make it to the Christmas Market at Hellbrun. It was very unique, with a good variety of booths, and was very spread out. Unfortunately the castle wasn't open when we were in Salzburg so we couldn't visit but we look forward to when we head back to Salzburg.
Good rooms, quarters etc., but not really much of furniture, or how people lived etc. in case you are looking for that kind of thing
Visited Hellbrunn Castle grounds in December for Christmas markets.Everything was so impressive. It was warm and welcoming with the Christmas stalls on every corner plus the farm animals were an added bonus to the overall atmosphere.A walk around the grounds and a mug of Gluhwein was very pleasant.Had a very enjoyable time there and would definitely recommend.
The 25 minute bus ride out of the city is worth every minute when you walk through the stunning gardens of Schloss Hellbrun. Seeing the pavilion from the Sound of Music is a bonus. There was a big Christmas market on and it was one of the best in Salzburg.
