I have to be honest, I don't come up here often for food - it's a beautiful restaurant with a beautiful view but a little over my budget. I do enjoy stopping in for a small dessert or a couple radlers though! Always such a treat! :)
Nice morning walk for starting a new day.You can see the city and the city life but you can't hear the noise, rumors... Is stresles
The berg itslef is good for hiking and also there is turm above from which view is amazing especially at sunset however do NOT expect to see a schloss as there is no schloss there just some remainings otherwise you will be disappointed as I was ..
Elevator ride up (most of the way) or trails! Great date spot to bring a light snack. Also a cool restaurant on the hillside at the top of the elevator. There is a park for kids near the elevator as well.
It is really worth a walk up the Schlossberg on a sunny day, as you will see spectacular views and enjoy the natural surroundings.
The views from the Schlossberg are breathtaking. The hike up to it can be breathtaking as well, if you are not in good shape. Be sure to take your camera.
The lift and the walk are great and so were all the lovely people we met in Frieburg during our three day stayThat's with the exception of Mark who was selling tickets at the bottom of the lift.I stood at the window and he sat eating a pretzel playing on a phone and ignored me. I eventually tapped on the kiosk window and asked if I could buy two ticketsThe look he gave me was a death look.I purchased the two tickets whilst he continued to chomp through his pretzel the contents of which I could see whilst in his mouthI joined the que for the next lift and after a couple of minutes I thought it prudent to return to the kiosk and enquire what length the walk was at the top.Death look number 2 and on this occasion I asked whether he was having a bad dayHe then launched into me informing me what time he had started work and that he simply wanted to eat his food in quiet and not be bothered by people like meI asked his name which to be fair he volunteered He could certainly do with some customer facing training and I did suggest this to him which didn't go down well9th October was the visit at 11.53 I still have my ticket and my memory
The hill is next to the historical centre. It's not very high so you can hike easily and enjoy the view of the city by there. I love it in every season.
Nice walk up. We did it on a sunny autumn day, so it was beautiful. The tower gives you a perfect view over all of Freiburg, with the mountains on the background. Make sure to enjoy a well deserved Erdinger on the way down in the outside bar. The weißwurst mit bretzel is delicious over tgere. And so is the Flamkucheb mit speck.
You can catch the railcar up the hill which I'd recommend if you're frail or unfit. However, I chose to walk both ways because its delightful and you can appreciate more the views over the town of Freiburg. On this occasion, I only wanted a beer on the patio overlooking the cathedral, taking in all the panoramic views of the town, but the restaurant will be an objective next time.
The hike depends on you, its really not that much of a hike if you are in decent shape. If it seems much for you then you can take the tram up about half way. Its totally worth the walk/hike. The area on top is nice for walking or a picnic. The view is wonderful not only of Freiburg but of the entire area. If you have the time do it and enjoy the best view of the area.
We skipped the cable car and made all the way up by foot. It's an easy walk in the forest, 20 minutes most depend on your physical shape. The tower itself has about 160 stairs, but its worth it. The view from the top is spectacular! On our way back we stopped near the upper cable car station, where nice mini golf track is located. The kids were happy, adults as well.
It's a bit of a haul for a Tween/ Teen, but the adults skipped up! There are lots of paths, which could be a bit maze-like, but wonderful views of the surrounding area and the town. It also showed us there there was a network of paths that could take you far and wide.
