Beautiful Harbor with a wonderful revolving statue at the end of the dock. Short walk from the hotel.
The harbor of Konstanz is probably the most southern harbor of Germany. On the border to Switzerland there is a very old and nice little city on the coast of the lake of Bodan. A nice place to spend a day of shopping. It is a bit crowded on a Saturday because all the Swiss people are spending their money in the cheap German city.
After stilling around we decided to hire on elf the electric speed boat for 2 hours. It was a really nice way to see some of the lake shore. Make sure it isn't going to rain!
It was so picturesque and the crossing over the border to Switzerland was a hoot (a short walk from the railway station).
It was a bit cold and dreary the day we visited, but you can tell that this place is great in warmer weather. The statue at the end of the pier is interesting and rotates. There were a lot of people there due to a Christmas festival.
We decided to go on a katamaran to Friedrichshafen, just to "sail" on the Bodensee. Great way to enjoy the views from Germany and Switzerland, quite confortably.
Konstanz Hafen area is a nice place to visit in the afternoon. It is a lively part where ferries come and go from/to other Bodensee cities. A roundtrip is recommended. Once back there is a beergarten, sit down and relax with a beer. Multiple restaurants from cheap to more expensive to choose from. Close to the Altstadt, just crossing the railway.During Oktoberfest it is great to see people in Lederhosen/Dirndls going towards the venue.Even solo I had a good time.
It was a pleaseant walk , admire the bridge, the ships and at the end you can loose yourself in the view !
Took a trip over from Friedrichshafen. Nice town to walk around in. Lots of shops if you are looking for doing some shopping. Got there early and by 11:00 the streets where get full. It is about 50 minute ride on the ferry. The ferry has drinks and some food if you want to buy something to snack on during the ride. I would go here if you are just wanting to walk around and do a little shopping and seeing some sites.
Wander around this Harbour or sit under the trees and watch the boats come and go. There are also Zeppelins which float over the lake and are amazing to watch. Take a ferry or a local bus to the many beautiful little villages within twenty minutes of the main town. A truly wonderful part of the world.
The lake front is the perfect place to while away the late afternoon in the beautiful light, which glistens over the lake. We had a meal with a view over the harbour and lake, which was a really romantic location indeed.
A bit touristy & very busy but well worth visiting this pretty & ancient lake side town which is just inside the German border from Switzerland. Plenty to see & do as well as many restaurants & coffee shops to relax in - just sit & watch the world go by. The setting is really beautiful with the lake & then the mountains in the distance. Take the steamer on the lake or access by train - well served by numerous trains.
Such a relaxing and beautiful place over looking the lake Bodensee. Its beautiful for photo opportunities and a stroll.
we stayed across the street from the harbour and train station. An easy walk to the busy harbour area to catch a ferry, grab some food, or visit a cafe
